You cite this and call it the truth. So, tell me what percentage of the tens of millions of Black Americans are immoral? Sixty? Ninety?
This statement is outrageous but it will get JLP a pat on the back from certain folks. However, insulting hyperbole directed at an entire ethnic group is not going to gain him any respect or listeners in that group. As I've written here before, JLP is not new, except for maybe around here. He screwed the pooch in his own community a long time ago. There are reasons why he has no audience there and it is the singer not the song. Now his act is to sing his insulting rants to the Hannity/WND audiences, at least to those segments of those audiences who like to hear a Black man make absurd statements like "most of Black America is immoral".
JLP is perfectly safe from any harm because no one in Black America takes him seriously, he is not a threat to Jesse or Al or Charlie.
This is not to say that much of Black America needs to turn around but so does much of poor White America and poor Latino America. There are significant cultural issues to be addressed. JLP is not the guy to do it effectively though, not where the message needs to be heard.
I'd say most racial stereotypes are wrong. In New Orleans do they have another race, Cajun?

The problem is that it is far easier to be the "victim" than the solution provider.
I don't know anything about him but I agree with what was said. Moreover, as I have POSTED before, the situation isn't pretty!

BTW, if a certain segment of white population that live in poor county X had the same problem of illegitimacy, how is calling the majority of white people of county X who fornicate "immoral" an insult regardless ?
Sometimes the truth hurts regardless of the color of your skin.
We agree that the situation is not a pretty one. But, as I said, JLP is fairly new to those here but he has a history in the Black community and that history has pretty much shut him out from being an effective bearer of the message. Now if Cosby and Colin Powell took the message on the road something would get done, and other "acceptable" voices would join the chorus.

It matters not how many White Americans applaud this guy's statements. What matters is changing minds in Black America and opening that group up to more conservative thinking. That is or should be the goal. The more the Hannity/WND cadre hoist JLP into the spotlight the more reluctant the group that most needs to hear the message will be to listen. That is counter-productive.
Cosby knows the situation is close to hopeless. From Powell's perspective, Mr. Harry Belafonte probably hurt him a lot, probably beyond repair. I know why Tiger married a European woman and into a European family. Very sad indeed!

Ted Koppel's NightLine reporter tried to get four black women to bad mouth Bush after his speech on reconstruction of the Gulf Coast. They would have none of it. They praised Bush and said they thought he was a good man. The only ones they had problems with were Blanco and Nagin. One woman even admitted her part in it by not leaving the city when she had fair warning. Koppel was really put off and commented, "We'll see if the rest of the country agrees with this small sample."
