Novelty pig calendars and toys have been banned from a council office in case they offend Muslim staff.
Workers in the benefits department at Dudley Council, West Midlands, were told to remove or cover up all pig-related items, including toys, porcelain figures, calendars and even a tissue box featuring Winnie the Pooh and Piglet.
Bosses acted after a Muslim complained about pig-shaped stress relievers delivered to the council in the run-up to the Islamic festival of Ramadan.
Muslims are barred from eating pork in the Koran and consider pigs unclean.
Councillor Mahbubur Rahman, a practising Muslim, backed the ban. He said: Its a tolerance of peoples beliefs.
Thanks for posting this. I didn't read about this a week ago so it's new news to me.

After the NY and London bombs, surely many people are offended to anything related to Islam. What if they voice their objection and the council bans anything related to Islam too... That would be called 'tolerant'.
It expresses my sentiments on this subject rather succinctly.
The West is in a cultural war just as surely as in a military war. Both must be won.
I'm offended by liberals. Can we ban them in the workplace? Not that many of them work....
What is a council that is referred to in the article? Any idea what a council estate is?
council estate == British welfare housing project
And yet, parts of the West are slowly waking up. I hope
Thank you. Are those things self-governed in some fashion.
