Stem cells and the liver Investigation of bone marrow stem cells in liver regeneration and fibrosis. We are developing the use of bone marrow derived hepatocytes to express anti-inflammatory, anti-viral and anti-tumour genes in the diseased liver to prevent fibrosis, liver failure and hepatocellular carcinoma, initially in murine transgenic models and then in clinical studies.
