Sony (6758.T) has apologized for an advertising campaign for its PlayStation game console which featured a young man wearing a crown of thorns with the slogan Ten years of passion.
Some Catholics were outraged by the adverts, which ran in newspapers and magazines to celebrate the products tenth anniversary. This time theyve gone too far, said Antonio Sciortino, editor of Famiglia Cristiana (Christian Family), a mass-circulation Catholic weekly. If this had concerned Islam there would have been a really strong reaction, Sciortino was quoted as saying in the Corriere della Sera newspaper.
In the Bible, Jesus was forced to wear a crown of thorns by mocking Roman guards before he was crucified. In the advert, a young man smiles cheekily, wearing a crown whose thorns are twisted into the geometric shapes that are PlayStations logo.
In a statement, Sony Computer Entertainment Italia expressed regret over the reaction to the advert. It acknowledged that the spirit of the message was misunderstood and said the campaign would not continue. Sonys ad is not the first to irk Catholics in recent months. Theres no religion any more, read a slogan for IKEA in an advert to inform Italians, whose Church attendance is steadily falling, that its furniture stores were open on a Sunday. reuters

So aggression pays, eh? When it concerns islam, of course add a few more ingredients to the mix like infantilism, obstinacy, obduracy and sheer density (dense-ness?)....
These morons should have known this outrage would occur but nobody in the advertising department bothered to speak up. Does anyone here believe they would dare run an ad in San Francisco that goes "The only way it could be more fun is if you could stick it in your behind?"
That's the "too many video games makes you stupid" spririt.
Also be careful of what your ice cream label looks like.
Or your sneaker label.
And people wonder why I have nothing but contempt for multiculturalism and its bastard children.
Perhaps and ad with Mohammed playing Playstation with his 9 year old bride.
I agree.
now only if Sony's ad agency had only bothered to register its 'advert' as an "artwork", you'd by now have a rash of limousine liberals, acadhimmis, MSMaggots, Bill maher and his clones etc rushing to its defense.
And the caption? "Times have changed. So have joysticks."
I wonder if there are any Christians in their art department. The Italian version:
Something for the Video Game ping list.
Capcom Classic Collection is awesome, btw.
It's not so much multi-culturalism that I dislike, it's the full scale attack on anything that made this nation great in the name of multi-culturalism that does get to me. I was raised to like people from everywhere. I still do. It's just that our nation is being overrun by people who are breaking the law to come here, and we are allowing so many people from differing beliefs to come here, that the practice and devotion to Christianity is now in jeopardy. It ranks behind other religions in respect. That really rankles me. We will pay for this.
Does anyone really think Sony made this mistake by accident? The uproar over this will place Play Station front and center for weeks. Sony knew this. They played a crooked game and will most likely get just what they wanted out of it. Sales won't tank. I suggest they'll soar.
