The People don't want small-government conservatives. Let's face facts. In 2004 the elected a liberal Democrat majority to the United States Senate and relegated conservatives to a small minority within the minority party. These liberals and RINOs are big spenders who insist on constraining American freedoms while improving the lives of the terrorists.
Conservatives need a grassroots movement to convince Americans--including and especially The New York Times--to believe in them and in their philosophy WITHOUT offending the liberal sensibilities of such potentates as Ronnie Earle, who as Travis County prosecutor determines control of the House of Representatives. If we cannot convince the American people to see government as we see government, then we cannot win because we have no majority and no mandate. We need to take back the Republican Party.
The present political situation forces the President into a position of extreme weakness, shielding himself from the culture of corruption within his own party. Whatever political capital he yet can muster, he must reserve to battle his forthcoming impeachment, which looks increasingly likely to happen and to succeed. He cannot expend precious political capital on doomed Supreme Court nominees, Harriet Miers likely now among them.
The Senate demands a liberal female unknown to the President, and the Senate will get her.
