I have been doing as you say for several election cycles. When you ring those bells, it's always nice to have someone who is fired up concerning the upcoming election. It's not just a question of money and feet on the ground. If your base has become disillusioned, you are going to get hit hard. It's just my opinion, and I hope I'm wrong.

I think there are many who are upset. And the Dobsons and Lands and others will have a tougher time keeping them on the reservation. Normally (non freeper) supporters are now expressing dissappointment and support is not as strong. Yeah, there are always malcontents, but the rancor has began to felt among the believers.
I have been digging up Kristol's history since he irritated me with that "Our Profound National Humiliation" column in 2001 (in which he attacked the President for getting the crew of that spy plane home from China without firing a shot).
Any time there is dissension in the Republican ranks, Bill Kristol is in the center of it. I hope he read my comments on him yesterday on the Sunday Talk Show thread and THAT is what wiped that sickening smile off his face!!!

But remember how we were so upset that Quayle was made to be a laughing stock, not that he stepped into the role either by his own advice or the advice of Kristol. Yes, the comment was untimely and left Quayle open to ridicule. Yet how many years did republicans circle the wagons on that comment only now to begin acknowledging that it was a laughing stock comment.
