BRUSSELS -- UNICEF's first adult-only episode of "The Smurfs," in which the blue-skinned cartoon characters' village is annihilated by warplanes, has terrified young children. The short but chilling film is to be broadcast on national television this week as a campaign advertisement for a fundraising drive by the U.N. children's agency. The animation was approved by the family of the Smurfs' late creator, "Peyo." Belgian television viewers were given a preview of the 25-second film last week, when it was shown on the evening news. The reactions ranged from approval to shock and, in the case of small children who saw the episode by accident, wailing terror...

I'm on board with this. Horrible to put this out where children will be disturbed, but how do we get this off the internet?
It will be better than killing Barney.....

I wouldn't call this an adult-only episode. An adult episode of the Smurfs would involve Smurfette in a variety of compromising positions. See post 43 and FOLLOW the instructions closely, lest ye be smited publicly!
Don't say I didn't warn you...

An adult episode of the Smurfs would involve Smurfette in a variety of compromising positions. That would be the junior high version.

I've got to download this video. It'll be a riot to see those little blue commies get what they deserve. Next year I hope Unicef gives the Care Bears the Ebola virus.

Ok, really, damn you to the deepest pits of hell. That accursed jingle has nagged at me since I first saw it on Saturday morning as a kid. I thought myself rid of it, but now here you go and post the lyrics (clearing up that jumbled 4th line while you were at it) and the blasted thing is now running through my head again. I think I'd have preferred you post a picture of Helen Thomas dressed as Smurfette.
That wasn't meant as a challenge, by the way.
Also, who's the chauvinist running the spell check? "Smurf" and "Smurfs" are included but not "Smurfette". Let's get with the times here! ; )

La, la, la, la, la, la, sing a happy song
La, la, la, la, la, la, Smurf the whole day long
(whistle) - Smurf along with me
(whistle) - simple as can be
Next time you're feeling blue just let a smile begin
Happy things will come to you so Smurf yourself a grin
La, la, la, la, la, la, now you know the tune
La, la, la, la, la, la, you'll be Smurfing soon.

I just read the article about American soccer kids and land mines. Who did the UN think should see this? What is the point of this? To make American soccer parents check soccer fields for landmines? To give American children nightmares? I don't understand the point. Bizarre.

I understand your point.
That killing American children video was outrageous and that is exactly why this Smurfs video is outrageous, too.
Apparently, the UN has a very UNfriendly-to-children agenda in my opinion.
