Fight in Taiwan's Parliament (lots of pictures)
Sky News ^ | October 11, 2005

Posted on 10/11/2005 7:37:06 AM PDT by Stoat

Taiwan legislators from the DPP and Kuomintang fight in Parliament in Taipei. Lawmakers from the ruling and opposition parties failed to agree on how an independent National Communications Commission, set up to monitor the media, should be formed.

Lawmakers from Taiwan's ruling Democratic Progressive Party try to occupy a parliament speaker's seat in a bid to prevent the proceedings of an opposition bill.

Taiwan's parliament is notorious for fistfights, with many lawmakers enjoying the media attention when brawls erupt.

The Legislature reconvened after a holiday to consider the proposal put forward by the opposition Nationalist Party to set up the new media watchdog.

But the debate didn't really go to plan as these amazing pictures show.

Chang Shou-wen, legislator from Taiwan's main opposition Kuomintang, holds his face in agony after being hit in the fracas.

Chang Shou-wen covers his bleeding face after the scuffle. Plackards and boards were used as make-shift weapons in the fight.

If this sort of thing were to happen in the USA, the Dems would always lose. To paraphrase Ann Coulter, "If the left wants a fistfight, bring it on. We have the men and we have the guns."

Yeah, too bad we could not have "addressed" the seven RINO traitors in the Senate that way!! The fillibuster would have been history.

Too bad the Republicans don't have a little of that fight in them. They would probably prefer a sleep off, or maybe a pillow fight.

C-SPAN could offer Pay per View.

To paraphrase Ann Coulter, "If the left wants a fistfight, bring it on. We have the men and we have the guns."

Which country is Ann Coulter from? In my Congress, the Democrats say "Boo" to the Republicans and most of the Republicans wet themselves, fall over into fetal position and cry for mercy.

I bet the Dems could kick the crap out of the RINO-filled Congress these days, the GOP has no fight in them anymore.

I was watching CSPAN the other night and over the energy vote, Pelosi was foaming at the mouth, over the vote that was suppose to take five mintues - took over 45 minutes, and as ususal it was due to the GOP culture of corruption. They were like a bunch of 2 year olds then they come out of session to have news conference whinning about the Culture of Corruption. I am surprised someone didn't punch her. I was so mad, my son turned the channel, and kept telling me "she can't hear you" .You just want to go through the screen and grab her by her bony neck and give her a good shaking.

You make an excellent point of course.  The context that this quote came from was in the immediate aftermath of the failed pie-throwing effort at Miss Coulter.  She was referring to the common citizens and not elected officials.

In retrospect I realize that this was a poor reference for me to use, and if I could edit the thread I would withdraw the post.

My apologies.    ((((standing in corner))))))

She may have to throw Ted Kennedy at Trent to knock him over, but I bet she could take out RINOs McCain and Specter with a slap and a stern look.

When I used to watch TV I had a spring operated suction-dart gun that looked just like a Luger.  I would shoot it at the screen and sometimes it made me feel better.....for a little while.

At least it didn't damage the TV  :-)

Nothing like fighting could ever happen in the US congress - fighting might mess up their $200.00 hair arrangements.

I love that passage: It reminds me of a saying about always make sure to bring a pistol to a fistfight. Can someone help me here with that one?

LOL... that is what I should do. I rarely watch news anymore, when I do I end up stressing out. At least reading it over internet you don't have to look or listen to these nitwits. Dems have a one view and you can not reason or debate them. What is so funny is how quick they all get the same talking points and go with it until a new slogan comes up.

I've always heard it as "Never bring a knife to a gunfight". but your version works fine also   :-)

"...holds his face in agony after being hit in the fracas"

I got hit in the fracas once, and it doubled me over for an hour.

that is what I should do

Well, if you're serious about arming yourself against the TV and you don't have a shop that carries cheap, silly stuff nearby you can mailorder from Archie McPhee's

Archie McPhee Toys, Gifts & Novelties

Spud Missiles

Finally, there is a civilized way to settle conflict in the workplace. Give each employee a Potato Gun and let them work out their differences with an old-fashioned showdown! Each package holds two of the same high-quality 6 1/2" hard plastic spud guns that you know and love - one in the original red color and the other in a new bright blue.

Potato Gun Showdown
item 10762
Set of 2. $5.95

"quite likely to smudge the TV screen and upset the wife"

Pig Catapult

The first catapults were built around 200 B.C. to hurl flaming 6-pound javelins. Now you can use the same basic mechanism to launch tiny plastic pigs through the air with the Pig Catapult. You may question the concept at first, but trust us, after propelling a few pigs across the room you'll be a believer too. Each 5-3/4" shooting device is made of plastic and comes with ample pig ammo for a full-fledged pig-flinging party. Comes on our illustrated blistercard with pig bull's eye on the back.

Pig Catapult
item 10978
$4.95 ea.

"won't smudge the screen but will still upset the wife when she finds tiny plastic pigs all over the living room"

It's also less satisfying than a true suction-dart gun because they don't stick to the screen at your target.

Archie McPhee's doesn't seem to have a true suction-dart gun so you'll have to look elsewhere, sorry   :-(

Looks like a great idea for the next Jackie Chan, Steven Chow, etc., movie with an added American political twist:

-Legend of the Drunken Senator from Mass.
-Crouching Barney Frank, Hidden Steven Goby
-Kung Fu to the Taxpayer
-House of Real Flying Daggers
-Shall We Punch?
-Rumble in the Chamber
