Police Say Man Walks Into Store, Sets Wife On Fire

CLINTON,Md. -- Police in Prince George's County, Md., said a man accused of walking into a mobile phone store, dousing his wife with gasoline and then setting her on fire is now behind bars.

Roger Hargrave, 33, was arrested shortly after 11 p.m. Monday in District Heights, Md.

Witnesses told police that Hargrave walked into the T-Mobile store in Clinton, Md., where his wife worked, and began throwing gasoline on her. Witnesses said the woman ran outside and Hargrave followed her and set her on fire with a match.

Police spokeswoman Cpl. Diane Richardson said a customer who was in the store quickly went to the woman's aid and put the fire out as the woman's husband calmly walked away.

"The victim had obtained a Ex Parte order," Richardson said. " She obtained that back in July. He came here anyhow, he didn't care, he didn't care who was in the store and he didn't care who witnessed this. All he wanted to do was hurt her."

Police said that Ex Parte order was canceled last month.

The 31-year-old victim is in the hospital with third-degree burns over more than 50 percent of her body.

Hargrave faces charges of attempted murder and assault.

As a punishment this guy should have the same thing done to him, see if he screams and cries like his wife did when they pour the gas and light the match, let him feel what a 3rd degree burn feels like across 50% of HIS body. Guess I'm in one of those Old Testament moods today.

That Freepathon ad is an unfortunate accompaniment to this sort of story.

God, there are a lof of crazy people in Prince George's County. Time was, it used to be a nice family type county. Now it's a mess in every aspect. It also leads Maryland in motor vehicle theft: Fully 50% of all stolen cars in Maryland are taken in Prince George's County. Great record, huh? Ray Nagin should run for county executive there.

Hey, who needs guns when all you need is a restraining order and 911?

I hate the wireless phenomenon. Hate it with a passion. Paying $200 a month to talk on the phone is the height of idiocy. Of course the advertisers have made sure to make me out to be the bad guy. I mean it's cruel and unusual if your 8 year old doesn't have one. BS.

The obvious answer to this crime is more gun control.

Yup. The only time a restraining order is useful is when it is printed on kleenex. They whine and moan about women's safety in these situations, but the only thing that will save you, is if you're packing heat.

Your comment reminds me of that sick asshole who set his son on fire in a hotel room, and left him disfigured for life. Mommy and Daddy were in the middle of a custody dispute. I personally wanted to set him on fire, just to see him end up like his son did. Can't remember the names, but I remember the pics of that poor kid. The perp got out of prison some years ago, I think.

Given a chance? Who prevented him from straighting himself out. Why is it the governments responsibility to get this jerk into anger management classes? Give me a break.

This is either a very poorly worded post or the liberal ya-ya's around you have infected your brain. WHERE IS THIS JERKS RESPONIBILITY FOR HIS ACTIONS!.AWB

We don't have a cell phone -- lived without one for 60 years and are getting along fine without one now. Obviously I don't have that same attitude toward the computer! :^)
