good comeback. in all reality, i think its safe to say that drugs do acct or are involved in most of the murders in this country, fair? article makes it obvious that gays are into drugs much more than others. argument with that, read the article. i was using serial killers as an example of a worldview that could possibly have some bearing on gay behaviors. if you come back and say that alot of murders are husbands killing wives, that too is fair, but you have to acknoweldge the sexual angle in that too.
If you want a serious discussion - "in all reality" - then it is safe to say that most statistics such as the above are contrived. Here's how:
It's difficult to get a precise measure of the percentage of "homosexuals"; this is because definitions vary (is it based on activity? is it based on self-description? etc) and because self-reporting on surveys is unreliable. Therefore, various credible surveys have produced figures ranging from 2%- to 6%+.
Now, say you survey 100 Hepatitis B patients and you come up with 4 that report themselves as homosexual. OK, then you want to figure out how this compares to the general population. How do you do that? Do you take the study that says 2% of the general population is homosexual, or the study that says 4%, or the study that says 6%?
In the first case, you come up with homosexuals are 100% more likely to contract Hep B. In the second, homosexuals are equally likely to contract Hep B as anyone. And, in the third, homosexuals are 33% less likely to contract Hep B.
And so it goes. Much of this is dubious propaganda. If it makes you happy though, run with it. No biggie to me either way!
