I have an Aunt who tells me that she can't stand President Bush. When I ask her for specific reasons, she can't come up with any. She "just doesn't like him."

They can give you the opinions they passionately hold, but they can't begin to give you a substantive reason for holding them.

The strange thing is some of this "artifice" comes from extremely intelligent people. One friend, a former teacher w/masters in math, and a niece, college teacher, et. al., are super intelligent, and they should know better. Can't figure out why they don't "see the light" on their own.
