SEOUL (AFX) - US politician Bill Richardson, hoping to persuade North Korea to abandon its nuclear weapons, arrived in Pyongyang today for a three-day visit, the North's official media reported.
'Bill Richardson, governor of New Mexico State of the United States, and his party arrived here Monday,' the Korean Central News Agency said in a brief dispatch.
Richardson said Friday his three-day trip to North Korea was unofficial but White House-backed and is aimed at giving momentum to the six-way nuclear disarmament talks.
The US governor will visit Japan and South Korea to brief officials in Tokyo and Seoul of the outcomes of his North Korea visit before returning to the US, according to his aides.

Bill still believes that he has the power to broker deals.
So, is Bill planning on capitulating or taking "donations" for Hillary's campaign.
Can Chia Pet keep Bill Richardson in Pryogang OH PLEASE CHIA PET
Returning to one of the crime scenes.
No...he will be running for Pres. AGAINST Hitlery.
I guess he's just offering to trade the few remaining secrets from Los Alamos.
Well, he is ronery...
The governor of New Mexico sure does spend a lot of time in this Communist country. I wonder what is REALLY going on with that.
Thank God! I lay awake nights worrying about the fallout of a war between North Korea and New Mexico!
So he's trying to do what several governments haven't been able to do for the past 12 years. I guess in his vanity, he sees himself as a super arbitrator? Geez...and who's paying for this visit??? New Mexico tax payers??? And what right does a mere governor have to push himself into this talks??? That's like Jesse Jackson going over there and attempting this.
I got better idea Tell Chia Pet if he keep Richardson Matt and Trey could cast him again in sequel to Team America hey that would work
Troubling.
Bill C couldn't do it so Bill R thinks he is wiser? Liberals always want to believe liars.
Don't get so angry, it's not like the Constitution prohibits state officials from conducting foreign poli---What? Oh it does?! Never mind.
10 - 1 the foreign diplomat says, "New....what? The new government from the country of New California Mexico?
If we are going to let no-name, low-level political hacks do our foreign policy now, at least send someone from a state that has some clout.
Like Nevada.
Send Oscar Goodman - the Las Vegas Mayor.
"Hey, you don't act right, my boys will be in touch. You ever heard of Area 51, gomer head? Or Bob Stupak?"
Let's show some semblance of respectability, sheesh.

I hope he got Condi's approval on this.
Compared to the rest of the line up of losers so far, for 2008(Hillary,Biden,Kerry,Edwards),......Richardson seems like a safe bet......
"No...he will be running for Pres. AGAINST Hitlery."
Perhaps, but he may also be forming "credentials" to be Hillary's VP candidate.
That would be a WISE strategy, to peel off some of the inroads the Republicans have gained, with hispanic origin voters.
The senator from Illinois would add little, since most blacks already vote democrat, regardless of any good reasons.
Maybe he's cutting a deal in which NK nuclear missles will not be aimed at New Mexico.
