We probably know each other! I also ran the base thrift shop from about 83-85. My husband might have known yours; I didn't ever have occasion to use the SATO office. Our last name is Powell; the joke then was General Powell was related to us (he's not).

I bet our passes crossed from time to time!  I sure miss this base.  Nothing has been the same up here since they closed it.  Business's are working out of Loring, but it just isn't the same.

I loved Loring when we were there. It would make me sad to see it closed. Some of the best times of my life happened up there in the frozen north!
