My sense is that he is
a) trying to divert attention off of Hariett and/or
b) tossing a bone to us Cons to quell the prison riot.

Won't work, George.

Maybe they know the big strike is imminent and they're trying feebly to cover their sorry, incompetent butts.

Otherwise, this is just more hot air out of D.C.

No wonder the hurricane season is so severe.

Nothing will change. This was all an effort to get the grassroots to calm down a bit and lubricate the way for the temp/guest workers/amnesty-in-truth plan. There won't be a crackdown, there won't be more interior enforcement.

I'm sick to death of Bush's line: "family values don't stop at the Rio Grande." That doesn't play here in SoCal, W.

"Whatcha wanna bet that the bill they come up with is the first one Bush ever vetoes?"

When I read that, I felt my blood pressure rise only because I know you'd be right.

until I see actions backing up these words, I don't believe they will do anything.

Texas, like the rest of the south-west is completely addicted like a strung out crack ho to the cheap mexican labor.

and I'm not just talking about dishwashers, yard men, and lettuce pickers.

I'm talking housing and road construction. Yes, in texas, the houses and roads are built by illegals. Government funded projects. They simply stopped checking for proof of citizenship many years ago.

Bush was governor of Texas.
He knows this and thats why he won't do anything about it. The Texas economy has become totally dependant on illegals cheap labor after many years of this. Its already past the point of no return unless the border is sealed and the south-west has to deal with some tough love in regards to the price of labor.

LOL. Yes. I've been on high blood pressure medicine for a year now. I think this issue had much to do with that...:-)

Have you ever noticed, they always say, "Well golly, we just don't know where any of these illegals are?" And yet, whenever there's an instance of mad cow disease anywhere in North America, they instantly know the herd from which the cow came, the herd's lineage, the cow's exact age, and who she accompanied to the Senior prom.

As long as employers get away with hiring illegals, nothing will change.

Sen. Cornyn is taking "action". Take a look at this one. http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d108:s.02941:

S.2941 Title: A bill to authorize the President to negotiate the creation of a North American Investment Fund to promote economic and infrastructure integration among Canada, Mexico, and the United States, and for other purposes. Sponsor: Sen Cornyn, John [TX]

Latest Major Action: 10/7/2004 Referred to Senate committee. Status: Read twice and referred to the Committee on Foreign Relations.

http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query

(snip)SEC. 3. PURPOSES. The purposes of the Fund shall be-- (1) to promote economic and infrastructure integration among Canada, Mexico, and the United States;

(2) to promote education and economic development in Mexico; and

(3) to reduce the wealth gap between Mexico and Canada, and between Mexico and the United States. SEC. 4. PROJECTS FUNDED.

(a) IN GENERAL- The Fund shall make grants for projects to carry out the purposes described in section 3, including projects--

(1) to construct roads in Mexico to facilitate trade between Mexico and Canada, and Mexico and the United States;

(2) to develop and implement post-secondary education programs in Mexico;

(3) to install telecommunications technologies throughout Mexico; and

(4) to construct other infrastructure that will carry out such purposes.

Nothing more than lip service...

It's a little more than lip service: Some nice-sounding appeasing statements to use as a smoke screen for the President's desired amnesty for Mexican illegals.

And it's a reminder of the contempt the administration has for the people's intelligence on this particular issue.

The studied negligence of law enforcement in regard to illegal entry from the South, is part of the plan to globalize the economy, and a de facto step towards one big blurry North America.

And then there's the failure to stop the drug trade and the growth of gangs.

Yes. It's documented, it's on paper, it's the agreement Bush was signing on to when he called the Minutemen "vigilantes," it's the agreement and plan Bush is following and just will... not... let... go AND it's online: Building a North American Community

Refer to it too much, though, and the Open Borders Lobby will call you a "moonbat" or worse.

The North American Investment Fund is the first concrete step towards the development of the North American Community, which is the final destruction of this nation.

This administration, like the one before it, is an enemy of the Republic.

It's a shame that on a forum supposedly dedicated to the truth, conservatism and defending the Republic, you can't get anyone to follow links that deliver the plain unvarnished treasonous truth.

A simple google search on "North American Community CFR", will turn up volumes of damning evidence of this sick plan.

Well, all those blind bushbot turkeys will get to pay for this mess, too.
