That was 2000 and that was the low point. Think about it this way too: if you improve the infancy mortality rate, your life expectancy shoots up: 1 child dies at 0 age, 2 men die at 100: life expectancy? 67.

Considering how much the West did to make sure the Communists succeeded, no wonder. Lenin got a $50 million deutch mark gift from the Kaiser, while Trotsky (a US citizen by then) got deals from Armnhammer, Rockefellers, Rothschildes and various other rich who were falling all over themselves to make deals with the communists.

And for 1000 years the "experts" have been predicting her death....as well as Orthodoxy's and who's dead now?

A nation with an increasing birth rate, a positive growth rate higher then any Western nation, still a vast (if weakened) military, a literacy rate of 99.7%, and the most gas and second largest oil (maybe even first) deposits in the world is anything but dieing. That's why their tax system makes ours look absolutely communist. Western Europe will long be Islamic and reChristianized before anything happens to the Third Rome.

---I hope your Latvian friend feels the same way about the Latvian Communists who were part of the Soviet Empire and war machine. ---

His atitude was that the Russians were pigs long before Communism and would remain pigs long after Communism vanished.

Just more proof that it takes time to recover from how many ever years under communism.
This country was not built overnight either.

Your friend's attitude smacks of ignorance then.

And *when* will that flat tax idea take more root here? I have been patiently waiting but I am losing patience.

The whole Orthodox Christian belt has an average ferility rate of about 1.5, with some down to about 1.2. The entire belt is on a suicide watch. It as a group has the lowest fertility rates on the planet.

Birth rates per 1,000 (CIA World Fact Book)

CATHOLIC/PROTESTANT WORLD (excluding Scandanavia, Mexico) Germany 8.33
Austria 8.81
Italy 8.89
Czech Republic 9.07
Poland 9.72
Hungary 9.76
Switzerland 9.77
Spain 10.10
Belgium 10.48
United Kingdom 10.78
Portugal 10.82
Canada 10.84
Netherlands 11.14
Denmark 11.36
France 12.15
United States 14.14
Ireland 14.47
AVERAGE: 10.62

ORTHODOX WORLD (Europe only):
Moldova 15.27
Serbia and Montenegro 12.12
Macedonia 12.00
Armenia 11.76
Belarus 10.83
Romania 10.70
Georgia 10.25
Russia 9.80
Greece 9.72
Bulgaria 9.66
Ukraine 8.67
AVERAGE: 10.98

This is the Catholic/Protestant world but what is especially interesting is where this would stand once the Arab/Turk/Pakistani populations are taken out, especially in nations such as England, Netherlands, Germany, France and Italy.

Seems that the Old Europe + US + Canada are in worse shape then the Orthodox.

Especially when Stein can base his whole argument on out dated information and conjecture, then writing is really really easy.

Here's the reason for it (remember, dead babies at age 0 are still figured into the average life span.

Infant mortality rate:
total: 15.39 deaths/1,000 live births
male: 17.7 deaths/1,000 live births
female: 12.94 deaths/1,000 live births (2005 est.)

"We are witnessing a remarkable event: the death of a great nation"

What makes ...or made...Russia so great to begin with? Nothing. Tt was just a large land mass aka a BULLY with nukes. Thats it.

All very interesting. Is that the same as fertility rates? I thought Serbia had the lowest fertility rates on the planet. You have not weighted for population by the way.

Births per thousand is where fertility rates are gotten from. As for weighing for population, I'll leave that up to you, to much effort.

It is odd then, because last time I looked from the same source, Serbia was into the self suicide as numero uno.

I wonder how many of our NC public school students would even realize that was a pun?

I kind of liked the "voting with their fetus" line.

when it comes to the future most Russian women are voting with their foetus: 70 per cent of pregnancies are aborted.
