Apparently you didn't follow Katrina as closely as you thought you did. He was on the phone to Blanko 2 days before the hurricane hit, pleading with her to evacuate the people from NO. He then had a document made up for her to sign that gave him the power to call up the NG. She said she had to think about it for 24 hours...well, 24 hours later and NO was in the middle of a hurricane.
I followed it closely ... what happened with all the document signing ... it turned into a he said she said argument Bush wasn't going to win in the MSM. Action, in the form of at least appearing to be concerned ... flying back to Washington early from vacation, or going up to NORAD to monitor the situation would have negated almost entirely the charges that Bush is out of touch (heard that one before?) or, that he's slow to grasp the enormity of a Katrina like catastrophe.
