Well, at least if you watch a Flyers game, you'll actually see a team WIN, unlike the Penquins (formerly of Pittsburgh)

I ordered Center Ice at the beginning of the year on my local cable company - only to learn that Avs games are blacked out in Omaha - so I cancelled it.
Just watched my first Avs games since the 04 playoffs - had it on the DVR from last night against Nashville. They are a completely different team - and I'm more convinced than ever that LaCroix should have kept Forsberg.

Do you think he should be??? Do you really think he's the best of the best??
The kid will have a very nice NHL career. I'm sure, given time, that he will be a good player. Very steady, night after night. But, another Gretzky? No.
Once again, I think the "hype" doesn't match the reality. Much like Lindros.

Sakic is a great captain - probably the best in the league next to Stevie Y, but Forsberg was the franchise - and I don't see how you let the franchise leave.

No, I don't think he's "paid his dues". Plus, Canada has plenty of experience. They don't need him, except for PR.

So THAT's what "OLN" means!

I haven't liked OLN since they pulled the "Sea Hunt" reruns a couple of years ago.My -- then -- 4 year old son asked me if Sea Hunt was one of the TV shows they had when George Washington was a kid. And then he'd run around the house singing, Duh, duh duh...duh, DUH, duh! (My closest text approximation of the Sea Hunt theme).
I've had both DISH Network and DirecTV. DirecTV seems to offer a better package for the buck. I just wish they'd let me choose FOX Sports Cincinnati over Fox Sports Ohio (they always play Indians instead of Reds games) like DISH Network does.

I don't know how you manage to trade "the franchise" either, but Philly fans sure are glad Colorado did!!

You are absolutely right. He has NOT paid his dues. But I have to disagree on his PR value to Team Canada. I think it is zero.
They have enough proven talent, and they don't need any PR hype.

Well, if he would have had a great start, I think he'd be on the roster. Just for the media attention he'd have created.
The fact that he didn't live up to the hype had to enter into the decision not to give him a slot.
Plus, the Canadians have a boatload of talent to choose from.
I look for Sweden and Canada to play for the gold.

I find myself in the odd position of defending Crosby. First of all, he IS having a good year. And second, he had nothing to do with the ridiculous hype created by the Penquins management. Look back at some of the earlier posts with the Stanley cup being touted because of a lucky draft pick. Management AND the fans of Pittsburgh created an unbearable situation for the kid, and it is a miracle he has been able to keep his head on straight this long. To think that ONE player was going to cause the Penquins to be an instant contender was myopic, delusional, or both.
I'm actually surprised that some people who call themselves hockey fans would completely forget the main ingredient to any winning team, and that is the TEAM concept. Not just one player, but a group of players who work well, and play well together. One "potential" superstar does NOT make a team automatically great.
Why this is difficult for some people to understand is amazing to me.
Take the Flyers, for instance. Forsberg is injured. The TEAM still wins. Gagne is injured, The TEAM still wins. Desjardins is injured. The TEAM still wins. Esche is injured. The TEAM still wins. etc, etc, etc. 9 players total injured, and the TEAM still wins.
Do you catch my drift???..........
