Only an idiot would blame the schools for that kid's behavior.

Read the article.

The family condoned it; the school didn't.

"While at the center, he called his mother and asked if he could go to the high school dance – neglecting to mention his newly purchased outfit.

Had she known about the costume, Lori Watkins said, “I would have said it wouldn’t be a good idea to wear it.”

One of my kids? First.......would never even try it. Second.....if such a call took place, I'd simply say "Try it....and see what happens to you if you make it home."

I'm sick of worthless, candy-assed "parents".

At one of my previous employer's Christmas party, there was a gift exchange. People would draw names and go buy a token gift. One young man got a name of this gal who was quite the “bitchy” to everybody.

Two other girls convinced this young fellow to give a particular gift for her they had purchased. As we sat there opening gifts, Miss Bitchy opened hers. It was a large, ethnically sensitive, dark rubber phallus. The laughter was uproarious. But it wasn't so funny for the young fellow; he got fired.

Unfortunately, the other two women were not fired for the conspiring and accessory to the incident.

How did a 14 year old get that costume? Surely he did not purchase it or the store/salesman could be in trouble because I would think it would have to come from an Adult Toy Shop or Adult Bookstore. Someone (possibly his dad) had to have bought it for him.

“It was all in fun and games,” he said. “People laughed. … These girls put their arms around me and got pictures.”

None of the pictures came out right, of course, as all the girls kept trying to climb onto his shoulders...

“We didn’t see anything wrong with it, to tell you the truth,”

You have to understand that there is a culture war going on out there.

If legislatures can try to mandate gay marriage...if pseudo-celebraties like Pam Anderson or Paris Hilton try to gain attention with sex tapes...if judges rule that Oregon should allow live sex acts...if some legislators (like Baghdad Jim McDimwhit)refuse to say "Under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance.....you really think these "parents" understood what was wrong.

Unfortunately, common sense is no longer common.
...neither are parents parenting

I was suspended twice (once in sixth grade, and another time Junior year). I was sent home, where I was able to do my homework. Even got to make up my tests.

"..she may personally go and wring all their necks.."

This probably isn't what you meant to say, the visual of her wringing the neck of the boy in the suit.....

Upon reading this, she may personally go and wring all their necks. Or maybe we could have a Freeper party, and all do it.

Those kind of parties go by a different name, DU'ers attend them not Freepers.

What did you learn form it? Did it have an positive impact or was it just a holiday?

First suspension was truly a punishment. My parents made it so.

For most kids, suspension IS a holiday. Take away a kids athletic privledges, or do a Saturday in-school suspension a la Breakfast Club.
