With the naming of Rahm Emanuel as head of the Democrat Congressional Campaign Committee, hopes have renewed in the ranks of the disconsolate and demoralized Left that Democrats will seize back control of the House. This optimism is fueled by the mistaken belief that anger and clever slogans are all that are needed to sway the American voter to their side again.
Democrats firmly believe that the Newt Gingrich led Republican Revolution came about in just that way. To quote Rahm Emanuel from Joshua Greene’s Rolling Stone article,
"We're the party of change. We're the party of a new direction -- a break from rampant cronyism and the status quo. Period."
When asked what that new direction is, what change he and his DCCC represent, it is then that the seemingly new strains of music begin to sound hauntingly familiar. The melody wavers and the words sound faded and worn out. The refrain becomes “Tax and Spend, Tax and Spend.” Universal college education (paid for by whom?), universal health care for anyone who works (paid for by whom?), bringing down the national debt and cutting U.S. dependence on foreign oil in half within a decade (great ideas, how’re you going to do that Rahm?). You see Democrats still just don’t get it. Socialism is a dead concept. It has failed everywhere it has been tried, without exception. Those old world nations attempting to build a patchwork of laws to shore up their lagging economies and pay for their overwhelming entitlement burdens are glaring proof of that failure. The Democrats are just incapable of seeing that. They still have faith that unlike everyone else, they will make it work. It is the same as when an alcoholic who has failed time and time again to control his drinking, goes to the bar, glass in hand, and says this time I’ll drink like a normal person. It won’t happen, it never happens; it is a fool’s dream.
Mr. Emanuel touts the slate of candidates he is running this year, including four veterans, 2 former FBI agents, a pastor , a sheriff, and former NFL quarterback Heath Schuler (Who?).
"You've got to have people that look and sound like they're not career politicians," he says. [Ibid]
And that my friends is the entirety of it, “people who look and sound like...” The Democrats still haven’t gotten beyond the belief that appearances trump realities. They don’t understand that people will always spot a fraud (well, they did miss Clinton). They continue to believe that George Bush became President of the United States by fooling everyone (Well, after all, we are all just dumb red-necked hicks to them). They are so blinded by their hatred that they cannot see that it was his genuineness, his honesty and integrity which got him elected. George Bush is not an actor in search of a role; he is a down-to-earth, good, man to whom the average person can relate. His values are those of the average American and he is in general true to those values. His patriotism is genuine; it comes from the heart, as does his faith. President Bush doesn’t have to pretend to be something he is not. He does not need an image maker like Al Gore hired, he doesn’t have to borrow a gun and hunting jacket and pretend to be a hunter in a sad attempt to deceive voters like Kerry. These are all things which cannot be faked and that fact is beyond the Left’s comprehension.
Liberals all believe that what happened in Ohio with Paul Hackett with his “almost win” (read LOSS) was a portent of the 2006 election (I hope their right). They conveniently forget the facts in that election. Hackett ran ads featuring pictures of President Bush, implying that he supported the President’s agenda. Hackett never openly campaigned as an anti-Bush Democrat within the Congressional district. It was only before partisan Democrat crowds out of state, that Hackett openly blasted President Bush. Even with that, he failed to fool enough voters with his “look at me, I’m an Iraq veteran” campaign to win the election. Putting a new face on the old anti-American, anti-Iraq War message of defeatism will not sway American voters. Just because a man served in Iraq, is no guarantee of loyalty to America. If I’m not mistaken (and I’m not) Benedict Arnold was a General in the American Army just prior to betraying his country. The Devil is in the message. A message, even from a veteran, that is intended to lower the morale of the troops and undermine the war effort, is a treasonous message.
How can the party of Ted (the Killer) Kennedy, Nancy (Illegal Donation) Pelosi, Chris (Securities Scandal) Dodd, Joe (Plagiarizer) Biden, and John (Malpractice Suit) Edwards offer a "corruption free" agenda? How can Rahm Emanuel bring in an “untainted” culture when he himself has already been forced to return a $5,000 donation from the Hispanic Democratic Organization (currently being scrutinized) and when the treasurer of his own campaign fund is a lawyer from Chicago and a congressional lobbyist? As to the “culture of corruption” accusations by the Democrats, to them indictment means guilty if you’re a Republican and denial if you’re a Democrat (“I did not have sexual relations with that woman...”). And of course there’s always the Amnesia clause of the Bill and Hillary Clinton Senate testimony manual (“Senator, I can’t recall.”). I mean what’s a girl to do if she has dreams of becoming the first woman President and has participated in criminal activity? Unlike the Republican “culture of corruption,” composed principally of politically motivated indictments, accusations, and little else, we know for sure that Democrats have a record of forty-seven convictions stemming from the Clinton administration. We do know that Bill Clinton was impeached (only the 2nd President to be so) and was forced to surrender his license to practice law for five years for lying to a grand jury.
Rahm Emanuel, what’s new about him? How is a retread political hit man from the most corrupt administration in history going to bring change to Washington? How is a survivor of the notoriously crony ridden Clinton White House going to bring new “morality” to the Capital. The “political brains of the Clinton administration” has a heavy burden to carry. Not only does he have the baggage of his association with the Clinton Catastrophe (eight years of sexual excess, assault and cover-up with no legislative accomplishments of note), but he has the added burden of leading a party completely bankrupt of ideas. They offer nothing new, merely old Democrat socialist ideas wrapped in new cosmetics. The failed ideas of the “New Deal” and the “Great Society” wrapped in new robes of hatred and personal attack, lies and half-truths, will be no more effective in the upcoming elections than it has been in the past. American citizens have seen the destructiveness of those failed Democrat ideas. The $5 trillion spent on the “elimination of poverty” in the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s have little success to which to point. The ill-conceived programs of the Johnson administration failed because the underlying concept of the welfare state was flawed. Rahm seems to believe, as do most Democrats, that taking those old worn out proposals from the “ash-heap of history” and presenting them to the people with the typical Democrat political smoke and mirrors is a recipe for victory.
Yes, I can see it now. Rahm is right. The Democrats should run on a campaign of corruption and cronyism...OH! against the Republicans, of course. All I can say is “Go for it, Rahm.” Sounds like a recipe for another three or four decades of Conservative victories.

We should send these sentences to every Democrat activist and congress critter. They are done!
Today's Democrat Party is the party of murder, treason and socialism. That's why the majority of the American public isn't buying what they're selling.
Emmanuel is part of the Clinton team. I read once he has dual citizenship. USA and Israeli. I am not sure if it is true. Very interesting if it is.

I am sure that in due course someone will post pictures of Roehm Emmanuel cavorting in his earlier career as a ballerina. He may not be wearing a tutu these days, but the toxic narcissism which drove him into that line of work doubtless still rules his days and nights.
