Iraqi Hotel Explodes

This from Fox News:http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,173192,00.html

"BAGHDAD, Iraq — Three massive vehicle bombs exploded Monday near the Palestine Hotel (search), home to many Western journalists, killing at least 20 people. Dramatic TV pictures showed one of the bombers driving a cement truck through the concrete blast walls that guard the hotel, then blowing up his vehicle.

Iraq's national security adviser, Mouwafak al-Rubaie (search), said the attack — which appeared well-planned — was a "very clear" effort to take over the hotel and seize journalists as hostages."

So I wonder - does this mean the press is going to start trash talking Insurgents (instead of apologizing for them?) Can we expect to see foreign judges issuing warrents for members of Al Quada in Iraq? Can we expect Citizen Cindy to demand the withdrawl of all media types in Iraq? Just a few questions that need to be answered....

No. It will mean that we drove the insurgents to it. They will try to understand even more now as it has hit closer to home. Have any names of casualties been released?

Spain will pursue indictments, no doubt.

(Spain is seeking to arrest several US Servicemen for killing a couple of Spainish reporters that made the mistake of being near terrorists shooting on US soldiers.)

Unfortunately, if they are now targeting journalists, we have plenty more.

The MSM will blame President Bush and lose even more ratings and circulation because that's the type of hysterical crap head biased idiots that they are.

Eternal shame on them.

Part of the problem is that the media (journalists in Print, TV, Photographers, cameramen etc) ALL see themselves as immune, as above it all. "Journalism" is a calling, 2nd only to sainthood. It's more important than any other job in the world, including doctors and nurses.

When a soldier is killed, it's his own fault anyhow, a civilian killed is a shame, probably the soldier's fault. A Journalist? Travesty! Horrors! We're not legitimate targets!!

They'll blamme it on the U.S. They don't see it as it is: muslims looking to kill "infidels".

What's odd is that when our volunteer soldiers are killed over there, they are mere children and pathetic dupes, tricked into joining the military and killed for the sheer joy it brings George Bush.

But when a journalist or cameraman is killed over there, they are lionized as the bravest of the brave, clear-eyed in their mission, throwing their personal safety on the line in their pursuit of the betterment of mankind.

Odd how all the truly brave and noble of this earth find their way into that single profession.

The Mythbusters comes to mind...they blew up a cement truck too. Do they get the Discovery Channel in Baghdad?

That's an excellent point.

Yes.

Hey, when the well-heeled executives of ABC et. al. send poor, grunt reporters into a place FAMOUS for being dangerous, all in the name of MONEY and RATINGS, why are these reporters not seen as well-intentioned DUPES?

I mean, it's a clearly stupid act, right? Why would smart reporters go there?

That's what hit me first. The terrorists should be inviting the reporters for coffee and falafel instead of killing them.
