I agree regarding repeal of the 17^th. The states have given up too much accountability, responsibility and power - and the power has relocated to the Fed level.

Even when Senators are chosen by State legislatures, the people have some (usually retroactive) voice in the advise & consent function, it just expresses through a different route.

Liberals hate the idea of repeal of the 17^th. It would dilute the power of special interests who aim to advance social changes.
