I guess I should have put a sarcasm tag on that post.

Frankly, I thought that Joe Morgan was being a little silly with his complaint. That's what I meant with my Jesse Jackson comment.

Yes, the town is abuzz. Even the local media, who are predominantly Cub fans, are getting excited. (I know they're Cub fans, because they give disclaimers before they tell us how excited they are.)

On the South Side however, people find it difficult to contain their joy. I think my friend Marty said it best:

"The Fighting Illini make it to the National Championship Game in April for the first time & now the White Sox are in the World Series. 2005 is certainly a year I won't soon forget. My only White Sox regret is that my dad is not alive to experience this landmark White Sox achievement. But I'm certain he is smiling down from heaven as we speak."

Thanks for staying up and watching the game with me last night.

I almost forgot to mention:

The teachers at my son's pre-school have sponsored a night out tonight with the parents at a local establishment. It's scheduled for 8:00. My only question to my son's teacher was, "Will there be a TV set there?" Her response was, "You know, every father we've spoken to has asked us the same question. Yes, there will be a TV set there."

There'd better.

The Fighting Illini make it to the National Championship Game in April. . . .

Yes, that was great, too. A very exciting and enjoyable team to watch. Thanks for reminding me.

>>Well as we all know it's impossible for a team up 3-0 to lose a best of seven series. /laughing sarcasm

Ha! well of course keep in mind my Sox did it to the N.Y.
Chokees in the ALCS. It has yet to be done in the World
Series. BUT last year showed that "anything will happen that can", to quote Steve Goodman...

"Now, folks, the law of averages shows that anything will happen that can

"But the last time the Cubs won a National League Pennant
was the year we dropped the bomb on Japan"

If the Astros lose Game 4, it will be the first time since 1907 that a team which was in the World Series for the first time failed to win a single game. (In 1907 it was a five-game series because the first game ended in a tie after 12 innings.)

Pretty tough situation for a rookie who hasn't pitched in weeks to get his "big chance."

OTOH, it would take a little shine off the verifiable fact that the NL is a joke of a league compared to the AL-- losing 8 straight games in the World Series. The Astros are like the 7th best team in baseball. The ChiSox, the Red Sox, the Yanks, the Indians, the Angels, and the As would all win this WS against the Stros.

What a load of total nonsense. The last 2 games took extra innings to be decided, including the longest WS game ever played, and the first game was tight the whole game. These team so far are pretty evenly matched, with a slight edge to the Black Sox, not the dominance you imply. 0-3 only tells the tiniest bit of the story. C'mon, you are better than that.

(Putting on Chicaga accent) "Hey, ya got ya nort' side and ya sout' side, and all ya media guys, dey live on the nort' side, so dey's Cubs fans. And den, on toppa dat, ya got yer local media ownin' da Cubbies. So wadda ya expec'?"

Damn, I could use an Italian beef and an Old Style right now. Left Chicago 15 years ago and I still miss it.

You do it. I don't know if I'll be able to stay awake again tonight.

Here's tonight's lineup.

It felt like it might come to that at some point during that game.

After watching the Astros (who I'm still rooting for) for the past couple of days, I think you may be right. I highly doubt the Astros have what it takes to somehow turn this train wreck around and come back to win it all. The ChiSox will win the World Series this year, no doubt...

I wonder when the last time a league lost 8 straight WS games. It may be a record.
