The grand jury's term expires on Friday, and the panel adjourned for the day without announcing any charges or other action. The administrative assistant to Thomas Hogan, the chief judge of U.S. District Court in the nation's capital, confirmed Hogan's meeting with Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald. The assistant, Sheldon Snook, declined to comment on what was discussed.
CBS News chief White House correspondent John Roberts reports that Fitzgerald was not asking for a grand jury extension during his meeting with the federal judge, leaving people to wonder whether he was seeking sealed indictments, or something else.
No witnesses were seen going into the grand jury area, only Fitzgerald and his deputies.

Where are all those prophets who predicted indictments coming down today?
hmmm
What did it mean, "asking for sealed indictments"?
again, this doesn't seem proper to involve the Judge with vs. the clerk of the court.
3) Nada (?)
I'm afraid to hope this thing is really a big nothing or is taking a turn nobody is looking for, eg indictments of Wilson or CIA employees.
Does anyone else find it hard to believe that David Gergen ever worked for a Republican adminstration? His statement that these indictments will"reopen Iraq wounds" and make people wonder if the war was advanced by "criminal means" is false propaganda and Dem spin.
Fitz is NOT making this a case on whether or not Joe Wilson was right or wrong about his trip to Niger. IN FACT, he actually LIED but Fitz is not discussing that in this case at all! Many have been upset because Wilson's lies have been getting little cover, BUT, the major media in this country have said that Joe Wilson's lies or misstatements about Niger and Iraq are irrelevant because the case has to with his wife's "outing.
NOW suddenly, the media spin about an indictment is this: people will question WHY we went to war. These indictments show that the decision to go to war was criminal...when it does no such thing! The media has just finished saying Wilson's lies and Iraq are irrelevant!!!
Fitzgerald might see a judge if he is negotiating with a defense attorney for someone to plea out a charge.
He may also have a serious leak problem with a subordinate or a Grand Juror. That would require a discussion with a judge on how to proceed. Someone is leaking badly and it may be someone inside.
Gergen is the Benedict Arnold of our time. Why, all Bush has to do is surround himself with liberal Republicans and he'll be just fine. I can't stand Gergen. I do wish Bush was more of a fighter, politically speaking. I know he's a solid Commander in Chief, but he never puts his political enemies, who want to destroy him, in their place.
Where are all the prophets that have been predicting indictments everyday for weeks ???
Waiting for tommorow...May they again be disappointed.
I'm sick of pundits who make *bold predictions* which end up never coming true.
Fitzgerald did already say that he would not be filing a report.
leaker within nullify the whole grand jury?
It can, depends on what was leaked and to whom.
Very useful by the defense attorneys.
Very embarrassing to the procecutor.
Makes judges really sore!
Let's assume for the moment that one or two White House officials are indicted. What with all the leaks, and the MSM spin from these leaks, is it at all possible that the accused could get a fair trial? I mean, whether Rove or Libby, they've already been tried in the media and been found "guilty."
Said it before: Fitzy met with the judge to get permission to write a final report since there will be no indictments.
that is the best supposition I've seen or heard!
Only issue is that even if that was so it would likely require he extend the GJ, which CBS seems pretty adamant he didn't ... curiouser & curiouser ;)
