M. Brand is a worthless coward.
He was a worthless, PC president of IU. Kissed the asses of any and all liberal crybabies. Opposed all conservative or sensible reforms.
Then he took on Knight and trumped up bogus charges against him for basically nothing: he verbally corrected a punk kid who was being rude to him in Assembly Hall. Brand got Knight fired but it was a "Pyrrhic Victory" as he might observe.
He is such an effeminate girly-man. It was so great when he got canned from IU. He was roundly despised.
But, true to form in this PC world, once elites get up to a certain level of status, then, the other elites close rank. Even for a numb-nuts like him. About a day after he was canned from IU, the NCAA announced that he would be their glorious new president.
Another position for this worthless POS to botch up. And he has. In true cowardly fashion, he announces the absurdity that any name of any mascot in any college of the United States, that refers to Indians, will not be tolerated.
This coming from the NCAA, headquarters: Indianapolis, Indiana. What a maroon.
And the Seminole alumni tell him to stick it, and several other huge powerful alumni blocks do too, and so, sniveling person that he is, he starts zeroing in on powerhouses such as Newberry College. "We'll show them!"
You might ask, what sort of training would an imbecilic egghead liberal dweeb like M. Brand have, that would make him behave so inflexibly and stupidly?
He is a philosophy professor by trade. That is great! A professional cartoon character of a professor. A philosophy professor. We sure need more of them nowadays.
By rights, because of his general attention-seeking and trouble-making tendencies, he should be tarred and feathered and sent out of town on a rail.
Maybe, on the Santa Fe Super Chief, if it still goes through Indianapolis.
Why is it that this article refers to the school's "Indian nickname" but never once tells us exactly what that nickname is? Or is it simply "Indians"?
Newberry Indians
"Newberry College president Dr. Mitchell Zais on Wednesday said the NCAAs decision to bar the school from hosting postseason events and bear its Native American nickname on uniforms was unjust, coercive and perhaps illegal. "
LOL. Hard to believe that Dr. Zaius is the same guy who played Rosemary's neighbor/satanist in "Rosemary's Baby."
Thanks for the ping.
As usual, someone somewhere has to have something to do and it usually has repercussions on southerners. What is their problem!!
I hope anyone as upset as I am will donate to Newberry. http://www.newberry.edu/giving/default.asp
This is not a wealthy school that can afford an expensive fight. Its a small Lutheran college.
Mick Zais has done a great job since he took over five years ago. Y'all would like him: A conservative West Point grad and retired Brig. General.
Mick will fight this for as long as their finances allow.
"...the NCAAs decision to bar the school from hosting postseason events and bear its Native American nickname on uniforms"
Who are you people?
Way to go Newberry College!
That's it?????
I was expecting something that provoked such outrage must have been more in the vein of "Newberry Wagon-Burners" or the like.
