". . . . . it was once like in the United States where men were free" So what about women? I guess women are not supposed to be free. What? Should they be thrown back in the kitchen again? And another thing too, if you are so in favor of freedom then what is wrong with these people protesting the war, the government, and other things in society? I mean you are in favor of free speech, right? So I guess you are fighting for peace?

First of all, the Quote was from Ronald Reagan and "Men" was a 'figure of speech,' sometimes termed a rhetorical figure or device, i.e. "Mankind." "Defend" as in 'nonviolent resistance,' i.e. "carrying signs."

Second, in Canada freedom of speech is not absolute as in the United States.

In the United States everyone has the right to freedom of expression. This right shall include freedom to hold opinions without interference by anyone. The freedom of speech and of thoughts and of opinions is one of the most precious rights of man.
