A U.S. soldier shot and killed one of three suicide bombers who attacked the Palestine Hotel complex before he could reach his intended target and that probably saved lives in the building

Yo, Wagner! If the guy had intended targets and other lives were involved, they weren't there to merely commit suicide, hence the proper term of homicide bombers.

Technically, if you are picked off before you blow yourself and someone else up, are you even a 'suicide' or a 'bomber?

What term do you then use for bombers who leave their bombs to detonate without them? "Suicide bomber" accurately describes somebody who sets off the bomb knowing he gets blown up too.

I prefer the term "Islamokazi", a melding of "Islamic kamikazi"
