Maybe they have a bomb they'd like to try out.

This concerns me too. No coincidence that suicide bombings slowed to a crawl to nearly none in Israel after Saddam and Arafat were removed from the picture. It's time to finish the job and take out Iran and Syria. We all know where the problems in Iraq are coming from so let's cut the cr@p and get on with it.

Iran has one...count 'em...one ally in the Middle East: Syria.

And Syria appears to be folding. Syria has started turning in terrorists to the U.S. and Syria has pulled its Army out of Lebanon.

So Iran is pretty freaked out right now that they are about to lose their only ally...that Syria is getting smart enough lay low for the next few years (at least until President Bush is out of office).

So Iran wants either the coming conflict with the U.S. to happen now while they still have an ally in Syria, or to bluff the U.S. into backing off.

This means that Iran is stuck emulating North Korea's "crazy aunt in the attic" strategy, in spades.

Of course, the U.S. is playing the game the otherway. We want to get Syria out of their alliance with Iran before we do what needs to be done there (probably a blockade of Iran in the end...combined with arming the Iranian students).
