A CNN reporter just said that in one case, "Alito took an anti-abortion stance."

This epitomizes the liberal mindset on the role of the judiciary. They are completely results-oriented.

In the case in question, Alito ruled that a state law requiring wives to notify their husbands prior to getting an abortion was not unconstitutional.

That ruling says nothing about Alito's views on the issue of abortion. One could be the world's biggest donor to Planned Parenthood and still find as a matter of law that the state statute was not unconstitutional.

But liberals have no real respect for the constitution. If you're "pro-choice," you must vote to strike down the law, and thus if you vote to uphold it you must be opposed to abortion.

Absolutely right, GLGB. Abortion is their big issue - how sad.

Libs are loony..Last night's West Wing nomination...which has the GOP candidate pro-choice, denouncing an ad by a GOP 527 group whch attacks the Dem for supporting abortion...whereas the Dem candidate, a Catholic, after being banned from communion by a Cardinal in NJ, tells his campaign head that as a Catholic, he believes that life begins at conception, and that abortion is murder.. so guess the Dems will win another TV WH election..

I don't see what your point is. Maybe Alito is privately pro-choice (as Kennedy is pro-life) but no one cares about that. It's his legal opinion that counts, and Alito's dissent certainly was anti-abortion in that it found certain prohibitions on it acceptable. Certain prohibitions, I might add, which are going to be a PR nightmare (a wife must notify her husband beforehand).

Amazing, isn't it? There's never acknowledgment of the facts that overturning Roe returns the question of abortion to the states. What little I've heard about it, Alito was correct in saying the law in Casey was constitutional. It didn't require permission, only notification and only if the husband was the father. That's the very least one should do.
