Oscar-winner Jamie Foxx turns 38 on Dec. 13, and there is only one birthday present he wants from California Gov. (and fellow actor) Arnold Schwarzenegger: clemency for Stan "Tookie" Williams.
Williams is an acclaimed author who has been mentioned as a candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize. He's also a convicted murderer who is set to be executed on Foxx's birthday after 24 years on death row.
"We can't let it happen," Foxx told me last night at the premiere of his new film, "Jarhead." "We've got to do everything we can to get the word out. Do you know they've collected nearly 30,000 signatures so far?"
Williams was sentenced to death in 1981 for the 1979 murder of a Los Angeles area 7-Eleven manager, and, shortly thereafter, three other people at a motel. He was already infamous at the time for founding the Los Angeles street gang the Crips, who were responsible for hundreds of deaths.

I guess you can, some beleive, you can get a free pass in life for murdering innocent people.
4 people killed by this man and someone wanted to give him a peace prize? Thats rich!
Mr. Tookie is going to get the justice that he deserves...
24 years of clemency seems like enough of a present.
Mr. Fox you were brilliant in "Ray."
What, does Jamie have need of a murderer? Someone he wants the guy to kill?
"Tookie" better get his affairs in order...he has an appointment with the lethal injection.
There are few things as repulsive as criminal sociopaths fancying themselves as agents for social change.
Tookie's mention means about as much.
Jamie Foxx? Is he a Senator or something? Nah, just some good for nothing actor who expects the rest of us to listen to what he has to say about... well, anything he thinks we should listen to. I for one don't really care what he thinks about this guy. Someone can do good things for humanity, yet be a complete menace to society. Hitler did some great things for Germany but he was still a maniac (to say the least.) How about this Hollywood? Go back to your big homes and your gas guzzling SUV's and stop telling the rest of us what we should do. I think it's time to excecute this guy!! I mean he's been on death row for 24 years!! He's a waste of money and quite frankly a waste of space on this planet. Move him out so we can move someone else in. CA should put in a express lane for the chamber. This is getting ridiculous. Yeah, I'm just an evil conservative who cares nothing about life, wildlife and the poor.
From the top....
The death penalty, like other criminal penalties, is based on what you DID, no on who you've BECOME.
As a mechanism to control the population, and facilitate rehabilitation, parole and "time off for good behavior" might be used to shorten a sentence. However, by definition, a death penalty isn't intended on being shortened.
Therefore, Tookie must pay the price for what he did, not on who he's become.
This, from a conservative who thinks that the death penalty is a horrible idea....
I doubt he would be as concerned if "Tookie" were a caucasian.
Now Foxx can play Tookie in the movie.
Jamie, shut up and act.
Nobel must be spinning in his grave over some of the peace awards. Sorta like the Ford Foundation, the organization is miles away from what the founder intended.
He may as well have wished for a pony...
"...if he is we need to have a forgiving heart towards him as he has confessed, shown remorse, turned away, and worked towards good..."
"Another Karla Fay Tucker"
Bingo. Another Karla Fay Tucker. Just like Tucker, you fry 'em because of what they've done, not who they've become. If you're gonna be pro-death penalty then you must accept this fact.
However, between the fact that wrongful convictions are very common (c'mon, most lawyers are libs!), and generally hinge on the quality of ones legal team, I've become anti-death penalty. The arguments concerning redemption are secondary, but they too are present.
sounds like Hurricane Carter and the slasher from Norman Mailer fame. Sorry to say that murder is murder and writing well does not pay back the fact that he took a life.
Paleo...I think the pic is inapropriate...I agree that Jamie Foxx is an idiot but cmon..let's not go there. He is probably a Mumia fan too.
Now Foxx can play Tookie in the movie.
You may be right.
This reminds me of Ed Asner and that Mumia guy in Philadelphia. Once there was a documentary on Mumia, which among other things, featured Ed Asner stating all sorts of stuff, like so-called "new evidence" that was presumably disregarded, and after each bit of nonsense from Asner, the prosecutor would debunk it (the "new evidence" wasn't new evidence at all).
Or there was the murderer who wrote In the Belly of the Beast. I think it was Norman Mailer who championed and won the guy's release. I don't think the murderer was on the street for half a minute before he killed someone else.
Celebs do well as celebs, but when it comes to real issues, they oughta keep their mouths shut. They usually don't know anything about the real world out there.
Here's the picture. Of course if he's executed, he'll no longer be eligible for the Nobel prize.
I nominate him for the "Rest-in-Peace Prize."
For founding the crips alone, he deserves the drip(s).
LOL, he already has.
LOL...Oh man. I was kidding!
The piper has waited way too long to be paid.
Jamie might not...but there would be others (Sarandon, Sheen, Robbins et. al.) who would.
Jamie, I love ya, man, and Tookie's sorry butt needs to die.
That's bad... /smirk in spite of myself
listen stooopid... you willing to take his place? no??? then STFU!!!
I can get 3,000,000 million to say he should be executed.
But if the race-baiters can gather a few thousand signatures from the sheep who know nothing of the actual facts, I guess that should be more important than our judiciary. =^/
I am so sick of these flaming libnut Hollyweirdos using their fame and their 15 minutes of it to scream about their political and/or religious beliefs.
Give me one other job (save that of a politician) where an employee is free to scream to others or the public that he's GOP or rat or Buddhist or an atheist.
I work as an RN...my job would last all of 10 seconds if I were to spout to patients I was admitting that I was a rightwinger and that clinton and the rats sucked.
If I'm not allowed to vent my political beliefs on the job, why is some nutbag like Foxx allowed to do so?
How right you are. This is the sad problem of our legal system
wow 30,000 thousands signatures thats pretty impressive all by fellow inmates i asume .(bye bye tookie)
