I submit Operation Iraqi Freedom killed them. The perfumed princes in their NY studios sat around all day telling us how terribly the war was going for us. Then the embedded reporters showed up in Baghdad after only three weeks. The general public had to conclude the MSM was incompetent (charitable) or hopelessly biased.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com and with all the Circulation Hawks looking over their shoulders, revenue has dropped even farther since they can't inflate their numbers to bilk their advertisers as easy as in the past.

"Conservatives have been active in instituting pajamadeen analysis, but not in getting a good unbiased front-line reporting network in place. :-("

Go take a look over at Powerline. They will now be accepting photos and videos (and presumably narratives) from actual people on the frontlines of breaking events. This will completely bypass the lying leftwing reporters.

Technology has always led to more human freedom.

They kill trees, then waste gasoline transporting newsprint, waste lots more distributing their papers ... and call themselves "green".

It makes a really good rabbit and cat litterbox filler - it's called "Yesterday's News" and its in pellet form.

It's the only way I get my newspaper, and my pets pee and poop all over them. It's a really sweet thing....!

Because the damage hits small conservative papers more than it hits the biggies...

Can you back this up? Why would conservative publications' positions not improve as subscribers and advertisers leave the liberal rags?

...and much of the good hard reporting that is analyzed by bloggers still comes from the sources already in place.

What's to keep the real news from being picked up by conservatives, or anybody else for that matter and put on the web? Drudge may not be the best example, but he is a force to be reckoned with. It ain't exactly rocket science. Even the fishwraps and networks are trying to expand their web presence. But until and unless they get it "right", they won't be able to compete in this free-for-all. "Instant" analysis will kill 'em.

Conservatives have been active in instituting pajamadeen analysis, but not in getting a good unbiased front-line reporting network in place.

This raises a number of questions I've asked before. Are advertisers somehow locked into the the MSM? If not, why aren't there just as many, or more, conservative dailies out there? Are conservatives generally not as disposed as "progressives" to pressing their message, that is, pushing their agenda? How was the socialist driven media able to gain a near monopoly of the media; print, broadcast(save talk radio), and the silver screen? Conservatives have BUCK$ also, so something went awry somewhere, eh?

Try the truth for a chance. You might actually be successful!

What a novel idea that would never fly in the MSM world.

Sadly, 2005 is shaping up as the industry's worst year from a revenue growth perspective since the recession impacted 2001-2002 period,...

MSM trashes Bush in 2000 election 2001 a bad year for the MSM.

MSM trashes Bush in 2004 election 2005 a bad year for the MSM.

Get it MSM?

I agree w both of you. I only get the Sunday paper (and haven't looked at that in some time). They call periodically and want to give me free daily papers for 13 weeks, or whatever. I did that once. Now when they call, I tell them that I appreciate and understand that they're just doing their job, but I would appreciate it if they would make a note and pass along the fact that the reason I don't want even a free paper is that they don't report the facts, stretch the truth, and are 1-sided politically.

I was listening to Rush on the way to work this a.m. and he said that Americans were more positive (per a poll). It was felt that the reason for this is because people are reading less newspapers and watching less news (on the alphabet channels).

We always take particular relish in telling people from the Philadelphia Inquirer where they can stick their Socialist rag.

My local newspaper here in Bucks County, Pa. is so blatantly liberal, I shitcanned the thing seven years ago and havn't read a word of it since.

It was so bad, they had to specifically order one of their columnists to "go conservative" just to stop the avalanche of complaints.

Still, they suck so bad their lips are sore.

It's because they lack a proper gatekeeper function.

Newspapers are yesterday. The blogs rule. You guys at the NYT etc. had your chance to print the Truth but you blew it bigtime. Bye bye.
