NORMAN, Okla. -- Hundreds of students are now under investigation after fake IDs are found on the University of Oklahoma campus.
Police said the latest rash of fake IDs have come from Dallas and that an OU fraternity member is selling the bogus Texas driver's licenses for about $100 each. Experts say these IDs are so close to the real thing that they're virtually undetectable.
"The ones coming out of Texas are really good, and they're getting better," said O'Connell's bartender Todd Emerson.
Emerson has confiscated dozens of fake IDs at the Norman pub.
"Most of these IDs are pretty bad," he said.
Norman police said they have turned over the fraternity member's computer to the Secret Service, which is tracking the names and identities of hundreds of students who tried to buy one of those fake IDs.
However, students who are in possession have a chance to turn in their fake ID without being charged with a crime -- if they turn them in before Nov. 18. Police indicated that they already have the names of the people who purchased fake IDs from the OU fraternity member.
Detectives said they'll accept the IDs in person, or you can simply mail then in.
Interesting information. I wonder which Fraternity this person belongs to...

Too bad they got caught. It's time for our puritan liquor laws to go. Andy college kid can vote for President or take a bullet in a war. They should be able to drink.

They busted a blonde female freshman with one and the name on the license was Jose Perez.
I am not making this up. Had a friend in college named Eric Fung. He was asian. His fake ID was a black guy! And it worked!
Of course, in Buffalo NY the rule was, if you can open the door without falling down the bar lets you in.
My roommate in college was hand drawing PA car inspection stickers and selling them to guys who could not get their car inspected.
The fake ID thing needs to be taken a lot more seriously. College (and some high school) kids act like it's all a big joke to buy and use these. They should be charged and prosecuted and serve prison time. Pass a law that denies federal loan subsidies to any student convicted of this crime, and denies federal funding of any kind to schools which don't promptly expel students convicted of buying, selling, or using fake IDs. Underage drinking is illegal, dangerous, and has turned most colleges (all of which are heavily taxpayer subsidized) into primarily social/recreational institutions rather than educational institutions. Controlling illegal immigration, terrorism, voting fraud, and identity theft are much more important than allowing underage drinking.
Lets just return the drinking age to 18 where it properly belongs.

IMHO, this goes beyond trying to get Alcohol. The majority of students may be using these IDs to do that, but there is a greater risk here in that many foreign students may wish to purchase these high-quality forgeries for other reasons. At least busting this ring might lead to finding those who supply fake IDs to others who may be using them for other, more sinister reasons.
They shouldn't be allowed to vote beyond the local level, and they're volunteering for the military these days (which is as it should be). I'd be willing to extend voting privileges for active duty military personnel under 21, though, since they tend to have much more of a grip on reality than college students, most of whom are chronically inebriated and spend most of their sober time being brainwashed with PC garbage.

Presumably you're aware that this is a different world from when you and I were having our little college-days drinking parties.
But remember your chucklehead attitude the next time a group of illegals are rounded up in a fake-I.D. arrest.
And when was the last time you heard of an underage drinker with a fake ID being convicted of a felony?
The huge market for fake IDs for underage drinking fuels and finances a sophisticated industry that makes realistic fake IDs easily available almost anywhere in the country.
