WASHINGTON -- Senate Democrats staged a stunning parliamentary ambush yesterday...

...The impasse was broken two hours later when Frist agreed to create a six-member bipartisan panel to issue a report...

...Soon after, Intelligence chairman Roberts told reporters the panel was "irrelevant" and that he would hold hearings all of next week, with the goal of releasing the report soon.

"We've been ready since May," said Roberts, who blamed Democrats for bottling up the report by failing to wade through reams of documents necessary to complete the probe. "That's hard work and they flat don't want to do it," he added...

...Reid hatched the plan during a Halloween night Capitol Hill meeting...

At one point, Reid sought parliamentary advice from one of his staff lawyers, tracking the man down as he escorted his children on a trick-or-treating run...

Senator Reid and Senator Durbin have run out of tricks.

They are showing extreme desperation and stupidity. But then, that is what we expect of our elected Democratic officials.

"The United States Senate has been hijacked by the Democratic leadership," said a livid Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-Tenn.). "They have no convictions, they have no principles, they have no ideas."

The sad part is that Frist is acting like this simple reality just dawned on him. Sadder still is that Frist has been playing ball with them all the while they've been screwing America.

America the football team. Democrats are the defense praying for an offensive fumble so they can be out on the field.

I agree. I was talking with a relative early this evening about Senator Frist's lack of understanding on every level.

There is little new in today's actions. Senator Frist should have known what the Democrats were long before he bothered to first run for office.

He should go back to being a doctor. At least there he may have a chance of being effective and useful.

It has been dreadful these several years watching the Republican leaders miss what we see so plainly. The Democrats are a dirty party, with dirty players. They can't be trusted, only defeated.

The Dems are doing a good job of defeating themselves, I just wish Frist would play hardball and finish them off

They wont read the reports. Don't bother them with facts. They know the result that they want.

It has been highly amusing watch Dingy Harry and his Insane Clown Posse do their victory dance in this political minefield. I wonder if they are so stupid they do not realize the political danger they are in?

The Intelligence "Bush lied" about was largely the same intelligence Bill Clinton and every current Democrat Senate Leader used in Dec 1998 to justify bombing Iraq. If "Bush lied" in 2003, they all lied in 1998. Since they are the original source of the "cooked" intelligence, can we start "impeaching" them for their "lies"?

No surprise. As we've stated before, this was just a stunt to manufacture a phony news story for the press to have in time for its 6:30 ET news broadcasts. Nothing mroe.

Indeed. Fortunately the Democrats have been good at defeating themselves...but we can't count on that forever. At some point our side has to wise up. They can win if they just put forth the least bit of effort.

Too bad complaining to the cameras is about all Frist will do about it.

And exactly why would Frist agree to this little 6 person special panel? Roberts is conducting the inquiry. He doesn't need any meddling by Frist and Harry. Dusty immediately named Fineswine, Rockfellow and Durbin(I think) as his 3 whackadoodles. Again, why would Frist agree to this??

Frist should not have agreed to any committee that would be split 50/50. The "minority" does not have "constiutional rights" beyond its representation in the Senate.

Again, our GOP leaders are spineless.

"Senator Reid and Senator Durbin have run out of tricks. They are showing extreme desperation and stupidity."

It's time to go for the jugular, which for us means pushing the conservative agenda through. As Rush suggests, hit them on all fronts and they will be so discombobulated that they won't know which issue to whine about.

Even I can't believe how low the libs and Dems have sunk; they are so completely devoid of any constructive, positive ideas to help America and Americans. Gosh, it would be depressing being one of them - who would you look up to? What a sad sack group of leaders. Human Zeroes.

They can't be trusted, only defeated.

The prescription for all of America's enemies, of which the Democrats are certainly one.

In a sign of deteriorating relations ahead of the 2006 midterm elections, Frist said the move made him "unable to trust Sen. Reid for the next year and half."

I can't believe Frist was dumb enough to trust him BEFORE. I am so tired of Democrats exploiting the system to meet their own twisted political goals. I've taught pre-school kids who were better behaved than this bunch.
