UPDATE

AARON BROWN OUT AT CNN
Wed Nov 02 2005 15:43:11 ET

To: All CNN Staff

From: Jon Klein

We have made some programming decisions which will impact our prime time schedule as well as our colleague Aaron Brown. Aaron will be leaving CNN and is very much looking forward to some well-deserved time off with his family.

Aaron has made enormous contributions to CNN since his groundbreaking anchoring of Sept. 11th through the war in Iraq to the Tsunami to the recent hurricanes. Outside of the big stories, on a nightly basis, Aaron has provided our audiences with insight into the events of the United States and the world with eloquence and the highest journalist integrity.

Besides his stellar work as an anchor, Aaron stands as an absolutely brilliant writer, evident by the thoughtful perspective he injects into every story he touches.

Personally, I will miss Aaron and his wicked sense of humor. We cannot thank Aaron enough for the skills and professionalism he brought to CNN. Given his respect throughout the industry, there is no question that he will be missed.

The lefties at CNN hired a bunch of liberals and look what it got them. A place at the bottom of the ratings cellar.

"CNN is hoping to be more balanced. For their new anchor, they will try to reanimate Lenin's corpse."

He should have stayed at ABC in the middle of the night, where he was funny and reasonably interesting.

I agree. He was tolerable over there. But, alas, ABC has younger talent doing the WNN program.

That's right. He was the one who was said to have made some comments trying to set Condi up with Lauren Green.

Looks like the fairy beat Brown into the ground.

He should have known when they made him "share" that show with Cooper.

From CNN's bio on Brown :

Previously, Brown was the anchor of ABC's World News Tonight Saturday and reported for World News Tonight with Peter Jennings, Nightline and other ABC news broadcasts. He was the founding anchor of ABC's World News Now. Brown played a lead role in covering many news stories, including the British return of Hong Kong to the Chinese government, the Columbine High School shootings, the trial of O.J. Simpson and Nelson Mandela's historic election as president of South Africa. He also reported on the restoration of Jean-Bertrand Aristide to the head of Haiti's government, the death of Princess Diana, the trial of Susan Smith in Union, S.C., and the California earthquake in 1994.

Additionally, Brown spent a year reporting and covering the tobacco industry. As an essayist for ABC News, Brown covered subjects ranging from the impeachment of President Bill Clinton to the life of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.

Before joining ABC News, Brown anchored the evening newscast for KIRO-TV in Seattle. Before that, he spent 10 years at Seattle's KING-TV as a reporter and anchor.

Brown has garnered a number of awards including three Emmy awards, a duPont-Columbia Award, a New York Film Festival World Medal and several Sigma Delta Chi awards for political, general and sports news reporting as well as in the category of Outstanding Documentary.

Brown is a native of Hopkins, Minn., and began his broadcasting career as a radio talk show host in Minneapolis and later in Los Angeles.

OMG! Now that I would have remembered. Apparently he puts his foot in his mouth regularly as I'm misremembering something completely different.

I remember when Brown was on ABC's late late late newscast with a blonde chick. His schtick then was goofball antics. Maybe he should have stayed that way.
