SAYBROOK TOWNSHIP Ohio - A former Boy Scout leader was nabbed Monday on child pornography charges while he was free on bond while awaiting sentencing for gross sexual imposition, said Sheriff’s Lt. Joe Bernardo said.
BJ Kirk, 35, of 2105 Cemetery Road, Saybrook Township, is being held in the Ashtabula City Jail on a $60,000 cash or surety bond, according to Ashtabula Municipal Court records.
Kirk was arraigned Tuesday on four counts of pandering sexual oriented material involving a minor and pandering obscenity material, second-degree felonies, records show. He is represented by Public Defender Marie Lane.
His preliminary hearing is set for 1:30 p.m. Nov. 9 in Ashtabula Municipal Court.
Kirk was free on a $50,000 personal recognizance bond, with sentencing set for 9 a.m. Nov. 10 in Common Pleas Judge Ronald Vettel’s courtroom in Jefferson. Star Beacon Advertisements
Kirk pleaded guilty in April to six counts of gross sexual imposition of three male juveniles. He faces up to nine years in prison.
Bernardo said the sheriff’s office was tipped off two weeks ago to Kirk’s latest activities from officials with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. Deputy Detective Van Robison began investigating Kirk’s activities.
Robison is a member of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. ICAC member Richard Warner with the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office assisted Robison in the investigation, said Bernardo.
"Once the national center called us, we sent out subpoenas to Internet providers," said Bernardo said.
Ashtabula Municipal Court Judge Albert Camplese signed search warrants requested by Sheriff William Johnson’s deputies. Armed with the search warrants, deputies arrested Kirk.

Interesting and the GAY community thinks it is a shame that they are kept from leadership positions in the Scouts. Heck we have a hard enough time trying to keep these perverts away from our boys as it is. There is a special place for them in Hell.
