Move closer to your work.

My last assignment was from North Carolina to Sao Paolo Brazil. IBM has a strong travel arrangement policy.

Argentina was definitely more interesting though.

Your links and archival information was of inestimable value to me. The info provided shut my State Department retiree up completely.

State is a nest of vipers and has not been cleaned out. Lest anyone think that the Department's retirees just fold up their tents and play golf, let it be known that thousands of them remain active and dynamic in some very specific, intellectual/genteel/civic-minded-appearing globalist, foreign relations, Eurocentric, hate-America, hate-Israel and hate-Bush discreet organizations (I call them "cells") all over the country.

Very much like the CFR, these groups have regular meetings, speakers, they finance and support left-wing projects and candidates, and they still exert great influence in DC through long-standing relations with each other, with legislators, with influential foreign business and political contacts from their days of overseas diplomatic service, and with powerful DC and foreign lobbyists.

There is quite a colony of ex-State living on exorbitant pensions in my area in Florida. I am sometimes a guest at their frequent dinner parties where their main topic of conversation over imported German coffee and continental cigarettes is how great it was living overseas at their various stations.. Their talk is endless, egocentric, Euro-orgasmatic, snooty, name-dropping-ish, with hints of regret over the loss of their former cushy servant-friendly sinecures. Their politics are even scarier.

I never blow my "cover" as a guest, and just drink it all in.....along with the Russian vodka and French wines, of course.

Leni
