If you are going to get the memorial silver dollar, I suggest you do so soon. The Mint is sold out. They are still reasonable on ebay and places like www.washingtonmint.com, but don't wait until the price goes over $50.
Roger that ... only 600,000 Marine Corps 230th Anniversary Silver Dollars were minted ... this practically guarantees collector status for this coin. My guess, a good looking silver dollar such as this (especially the proof set) will easily exceed $100.00 by this time next year.
Still looking for a good Marines movie
Run, not walk to the nearest video rental store and get "Semper Fi" (2001).
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARINES
SEMPER FI
Oooorah!
Founded in a tavern, how could we go wrong.
The young Marines of today are upholding the best
traditions of the Corps, and I salute them.

Never heard of it. I'm waiting for a good Afghanistan and Gulf War I and II movies. Jarhead had my hopes up and dashed it. Freaking commies.
You got that right. The coin is a beaut. I think the mint should have given one to every Marine.
Happy Birthday to all Marines!!!!
SYNOPSIS
Jack Webb produced, directed and stars in this film about a Marine Corps Drill Instructor whose spotless record is threatened by an obstinate new recruit who affects the morale of the entire platoon.
And here is the link to the video. I' m sure you can probably rent it at your library or video store. It's a Classic! And I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

SGT GRIT used to sell copies of The D.I.. I think they've run out. Hasn't been put out on DVD to my knowledge.
Buy it if you get a chance.
Isn't that cool? We all share something in common, no matter when we served. My landlord got out of the Marines the year before I was born. When I went to see the place, he saw the sticker on my car, so he knew I wouldn't burn the place down or anything, and would be reliable, so he gave me a break on the rent.
As my first post here, I am happy to join in and say:
Happy 230th Birthday! (yeah, a lil early)
26 years ago today I got off the bus and stood on the yellow footprints! Man, what was I thinking? LOL
Seems like yesterday!
I too ordered and received the USMC silver dollar! A piece of art if I ever saw one! I couldn't resist and opened one! I will now carry it everyday!
Semper Fi,

Oh, thanks to GunnyG for turning me on to this site!
