Yes, he is. His biggest claim to fame was when he was younger and bedded almost every woman in Hollywood. The whole family is classless, Shirley McClain once said it was too bad he was her brother as she would like to see what all the commotion was about (meaning his unlimited access to women). Why he married so late in life is mysterious, as is the fact that during all his dalliances there were no progeny..but now he has passed his genes on, or so they say.

" Shirley McClain once said it was too bad he was her brother as she would like to see what all the commotion was about "

Knowing that the Hollywierd people have the morals of a snail, I would bet she has found out!

Eeeewwwwww, didn't know what she had said about him, but their being related does explain his thought processes a little. He is just as weird as she is, just manages to cover it better.

Have to admit I wimped out of going to that this afternoon although I had signed up. Was willing to face the distance from Ventura to Irwindale, but then I heard about Beatty and, it was hinted on the radio, other anti-Arnold forces (read: union thugs) there to confront the pro- people. Wish I'd been brave now. Hopefully the other people I told about it actually went.

Sure we can. That why Warren Batty's got anti-reform ads on radio and TV.

"You have to have a wristband to listen the governor?" Bening asked. "He represents all of us, right?"

Okay then, how about this: "You have to have a wristband to keep your NECK from getting caught between the door and the jamb after a particularly vicious non-partisan kick?"

Y'get the idea NOW, no-talent?

Did you happen to catch John and Ken yesterday? They played an interview with Beatty from his rally bus after being turned away from Arnold's event. I would like to think Beatty was drunk.. at least that might explain his inability to complete a thought.

Nope, I don't listen to J & K often and just happened to have the car radio on when Schwarzenneger was on. Nothing Beatty does would surprise me. He's a commie nut case but he may have enough "star power" to dupe many easily-fooled California voters. I figure he's getting ready to challenge Ahnuld for the Governorship.

This is not an endorsement of Warren.. but rather a comment on his portrayal of John Read in Reds... Read was a spirited communist, born out of the labor movement.. worked intently on the War in Russia... in the movie.. his early position was clearly delineated.. however,, the light finally hit him.. he was ill and broken at that point.. remember the scene in the rail road station, when all of the people were starving/ill/homeless in the snow.. the train (cars) stopped briefly and in the train were the leaders of the "liberating" movement enjoying the best of food and the finest of wine.. the look on John Read/Warren's face was unforgettable.. it was like a proclamation that a life was wasted on an empty promise.. that people, no matter what they say, when they get into power they demonstrate how power breeds greed...

We could examine a million examples of this in our own leadership..

So while I am not supporting Warren's fever for an elected position.. I also would not characterize him as a huge supporter of Read's actions.. rather that he may have learned from studying him...

Maybe the "light" hit Reed in Beatty's movie but that doesn't change the fact that the real Reed is buried in the Kremlin wall along with his Bolshevik heroes. His book about the Communist Revolution "Ten Days That Shook the World" was a rallying point for American Communists. I suspect Beatty's portrayal (I don't recall it in detail; I saw the movie once years ago) was softened for purposes of American box office.

Whether or not Beatty has formal communist sympathies makes little difference. He's a Hollywood liberal and has long been associated with far-Left causes. I brought up his admiration for Reed as a clear indication of his interests and sympathies. Maybe his own awful movie "Bulworth" comes closer to pegging him politically. I'm sure his real-life political ambitions are as bumbling and silly as Bulworth's.

Hi.. you are correct about Reed.. I believe he is the only American buried there...
To compare Warren's position to portraying Reed. can also be applied to Arnold and the many crazy parts he has played.. while I absolutely agree with you about the insane liberalism in Hollywood and in the Theatrical industry.. my point was to not judge actors by the parts they play...
In Reed's time, he was up to his ears in many of the theater/Artsy group activities.. if I remember, Eugene O'Neil.. among others.. all really surface intellects,. or trying to portray a sense of knowledge..
I urge you to go back and view REDS again.. it is one of my favorite movies.. I wait - with anticipation for the train scene.. for it is worth it... In the final analysis, the Kremlin was not pleased with Reed.. but had to cover up his disappointment in order to keep the face on communism... what a complete waste of a potentially wonderful life..
Thanks for the comeback!
