Police find bomb-making factory

Police found a petrol bomb-making factory in a southern suburb of Paris, with more than 100 bottles, gallons of fuel and hoods for hiding rioters' faces, a senior Justice Ministry official said.

Six youths, all aged under 18, were arrested in the raid on Saturday night on a building in Evry south of Paris where the petrol bombs were being put together, Jean-Marie Huet said.

Police found "150 bottles prepared for use as Molotov cocktails, of which 50 were ready to be used" said Huet, the ministry's director of criminal affairs and pardons.

The discovery, he said, shows that petrol bombs being used by rioters "are not being improvised by kids in their bathrooms."

The discovery was made as spreading urban unrest - with arson attacks on vehicles, nursery schools and other targets in France from the Mediterranean to the German border - reached central Paris.

Police made 186 arrests nationwide as the violence, in its 10th night, moved from poor suburbs into the capital and reached new intensity across the country.

The number of cars torched - 1,295 across France - was the highest yet since the unrest began October 27, French media reported. Police did not immediately confirm the figure after earlier putting the number at 918.

On Friday night, 900 vehicles were burned throughout the country.

The latest count of arson attacks could rise further, police said, adding that it did not include shops, gymnasiums, nursery schools and other targets attacked by bands of youths.

The unrest took a potentially alarming turn with reported attacks inside the well-guarded French capital. Police said three cars were damaged by fire from petrol bombs in the Place de la Republique neighbourhood, or 3rd district, north-east of City Hall and near the historic Marais district.

Bomb factories grow out of "rage" and "frustration."

Now, they'd better find the factory harboring the real stuff and the cars packed with explosives.

I'll bet any money it's right there. I still say this riot is a diversion.

It's a good thing France did not support the war in Iraq. These restless youths might really hate their government.

Would somebody be so kind as to post the list of celebrities who moved to France after Bush won?

Ok, but if this factory had 50 bottles to go, then with 1000 cars burned last night, there must be 200 such factories.

Or if it the factory would have 200 ready to go by tonight, then there must be 5 factories.

Either that or their inventory has been exhausted.

The way the Muslims are coordinating by cell phones could explain the recent thread about the $60,000 untraceable cell phone purchase by a middle easterner here in the states.

Different standard in Europe. US cell phones no workie, except for the multi-standard high dollar units.

I wasn't implying that the middle easterner bought the cell phones and took them to France. I was implying that he may have bought them to coordinate the same sort of riots here.

Anybody who visits Switzerland can buy an untraceable cell phone.

And anybody can mke a molotov cocktail without a warehouse or any instructions. Fill bottle with flammable liquid, put a rag stopper in it, tip it up a couple of times to soak the rag, light the rag, throw, run.
