Well that's true, the writer wrote it but...Quaid should have looked at it and DEEEEECLINED. However as much as I loved him in Christmas Vacation..I dont' think his career was ever big. So, he may have thought he needed to take this role no matter how bad it was.
Also the actress that rides with him...haven't seen her in anything either so...maybe they were desperate to get some sort of exposure. Who knows?
