The John Kerry/Joe Wilson line of thinking is that we should all emulate the French.

True. And, continuing along... the John Kerry/Joe Wilson line of thinking is that we should all ululate.

'Since 911 over 100,000 people have died on our highways.
It's not worth the cost. Close down the highways. Those taxpayer funded highways are nothing more than a conspiracy of the oil companies to make obscne profits.'

"No more traffic fatalities for big oil and Haliburton!"

"And I think it demeans the sacrifices of our troops to suggest otherwise."

That's the plain, hard truth. Yesterday, it was reported that an Iraqi official threatened neighboring countries, emphasizing Syria. That was a major moment, IMHO. He said, [paraphrasing], "When the Iraq volcano erupts, no neighboring capital will be safe."

Imagine Iraq one day invading Syria to take out terror camps.

"The millions upon millions who have died under oppression at the hands of their oppressors are much larger numbers."

Back to the old standby saw. Just think of Ted Kennedy's voice. "After Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor, FDR allowed us to be distracted and bogged down in the European theater. The failures in the Pacific by our tiny forces there are due to lack of resources and split attention. We floundered in Guadal Canal. Iwo Jima was an outrageous mess. And for what? To suffer death on a grand scale on D-Day and nearly experience our own Dunkirk from the Battle of the Bulge. Forces were simply spread too thin on both fronts. But for the Grace of God, thanks to the lucky win at Midway, the Scheming of Patton to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat at the Battle of the Bulge, and the desperate Island Hopping strategy of MacArthur, we nearly lost the Free World. I, Ted Kennedy, demand that the Commander in Chief step down in shame. I demand that the entire Department of War be abolished, and that a new, improve Department of Peace be established. I demand that we quit messing around with Hitler, who never did anything to us, other than sink a few cruise liners who should have stayed clear of Europe to begin with! Let's focus on the Real Enemy, Japan!"

The bottom line is, even if the WMD claims may not have been true, that Saddam Hussein DID NOT deserve the benefit of the doubt given his track record. End of story.

"Awesome! But you may want to correct the "soldiers" part of it. I think most of them have actually been Marines. There must be another word you can use (shorter than "servicemen") that would encompass all of the branches."

Every branch of the armed services has lost at least one member in combat, including the Coast Guard. A Coast Guard Auxiliarist has also been killed in combat while serving with the Army.
