Libby's lurid book in demand
news.com.au ^ | 8 November 2005

Posted on 11/07/2005 9:43:11 PM PST by Aussie Dasher

A STEAMY novel by I Lewis "Scooter" Libby has become a hot item now that Vice President Dick Cheney's chief of staff is under indictment.

An inscribed copy of The Apprentice: A Novel, which Libby wrote in 1996 when he was a relative unknown outside Washington, was on sale on online bookseller Amazon.com today for $US2400 ($A3280). Unsigned hardcover copies were going for $US700 ($A956).

Now out of print, the novel tells the story of an innkeeper apprentice in a bizarre coming-of-age story set in Japan in 1903. It is littered with edgy sexual material and strong language.

"Wow, who would have thought that clean living, family values man Scooter Libby was capable of writing such filth," said one reviewer on Amazon.

Another Amazon reviewer noted its "lavish dollops of voyeurism, bestiality, pedophilia and corpse robbery."

Libby was charged last month with perjury in a special prosecutor's probe into how a CIA operative's identity was leaked to journalists.

Libby's writing skills also happened to be displayed in a widely published letter to reporter Judith Miller of The New York Times that showed a flair for literary allusion and ambiguity.

"Out West, where you vacation, the aspens will already be turning. They turn in clusters, because their roots connect them," he wrote to Miller as she sat in jail earlier this year for refusing to reveal Libby's identity as a source.

No, but I heard excerpts all day friday, saturday and sunday. If people think that the STUPID! letter he wrote to Miller had some hidden meaning, then all they need do is reference just a couple references from that novel, and see that Libby should be a lawyer, and WAY behind the scenes.

If it's true that there a section in there with a bear raping a child, not only will I not read this but I have some serious doubts about the morality of someone who would write such garbage. Just the thought of it makes me want to puke.

I heard about this last Friday. Unfortunately I have a weird pagan feminist sister who listens to Air America. She called and told me about this novel Libby wrote and the bear rape scene. I dismissed it as exaggeration by the left. I went to Amazon and saw how high the prices were although one could get a paper back for 85.oo. I don't know if the liberals are buying all the copies up so they can lie about the contents or if it is a border-line porno novel. If it is the latter, would'nt you think a Washington attorney should be a tad smarter than to publish garbage, especially using his own name? gee.what's next????

I know that while prostitution in Pre-WWII Japan was ubiquitous, bestiality was non-existant in Japanese culture.

It sounds like a cheap copy of Yukiguni (Kawabata Yasunari) to me.

Was the rape heterosexual or homosexual? Was the victim over the age of censent or not? Droolingly eager, underemployed, lawyers are eagerly awaiting your reply.

They are also seeking the present address and email address of the victim.

PETA has yet to be heard from, though those familiar (pun intended) with the "animal rights activists" expect a response momentarily. >/sacr off

If this is true, it would seem that Clinton overlooked a perfect candidate to serve in his Administration.

With so many skeletons in their own closets, it's no wonder the Dems are so adept at locating the skeletons in the closet's of others.

And there was another part in the book where a hunter debates whether he should have "sex" with a deer carcus before it gets cold.

There is something wrong with this guy.

Good grief, it's just a novel. Doesn't sound like anything I'd read. But if we're going to hold authors accountable for the depravity of the characters in their stories... might as well just arrest Steven King now.

Further, it sounds like it's meant to be the written representation of the Japanese erotic art style known as "shunga", examples which can be viewed and are explained at this site.

These images are very bizarre to our prudish Western mentality, but art isn't always meant to be safe, or comforting.

Yeah. Prudish. Also uninformed, uneducated, and quick to judge based on very little information. That refers to some, but not all.

Before the 3 posts on this book appeared today, I had been trying to get some info from here on what was known about this book.

That led me to this informative thread of other possible dirt on Libby:

Interesting stuff. What if Libby isn't even conservative in the first place?

"What if Libby isn't even conservative in the first place?"

What if he's not even human! All this time he might of been a capybara impersonating a liberal impersonating a conservative.

Has anyone ever really seen him up close? Some things to look for: Capybaras live around river banks, eat river plants and bark, and rub their snout which contains a scent gland on foliage to attract females.

I bet someone will find him snouting up a Cottonwood along the Potomac and I'll be like so "I told you so".

Yeah, maybe, but Stephen King wasn't the most trusted advisor to the second highest office in the nation. And King has a more fantasy/horror bent-- I mean, nobody expects a dead cat to come to life, honestly... but if in "historical fiction" someone chooses to write and dwell on a totally twisted bestiality/pedophilia scene in his *first* *novel* as something that was *plausible*, well that mind is SICK SICK SICK.

I expect artists and writers to be twisted and perverse at times (and I can take or leave their dreck as I like). I have a problem when that sickness invades my government, like Slick Willie.

At age ten the madam put the child in a cage with a bear trained to couple with young girls so the girls would be frigid and not fall in love with their patrons. They fed her through the bars and aroused the bear with a stick when it seemed to lose interest.

1) Libby writres a novel that details animal to child rape among other interesting things.

2) Libby's wife is employed by Joe Biden

3) Libby was a former attroney for Mark Rich, center of the Clinton pardon-gate scandals.

And folks who find that Libby turns their stomachs have the problem? Pardon me while I

The fact that SCOOTER Libby wrote a fictional book about a LITTLE GIRL being forced to have sex with a BEAR makes me think poorly of him.

I'm still wondering what his letter to Judith Miller meant:

"You went to jail in the summer. It is fall now. You will have stories to cover -- Iraqi elections and suicide bombers, biological threats and the Iranian nuclear program. Out West, where you vacation, the aspens will already be turning. They turn in clusters, because their roots connect them. Come back to work—-and life. Until then, you will remain in my thoughts and prayers. With admiration, Scooter Libby."

It actually makes sense when you think about it. Liberals, who are really socialists always think about the good of the group. The best example is Clinton. When push came to shove, they all stood together, because the ends justify the means. Whereas when Watergate happened, the Republicans couldn't wait to turn on each other because the Republican/conservative philosophy has to do with the individual over the collective.
