PRISTINA -- Tuesday Uniformed and armed individuals were stopping vehicles and asking travellers for identification on Sunday night on the road leading to the southern Kosovo village of Dubrava, according to Albanian language daily Koha Ditore.
Eyewitnesses told the daily that on Sunday night, between 11 and 11:30 pm, these armed units set up control point on the road leading to Dubrava.
Witnesses say that the unit members told travellers that they could freely tell the police about them. Urosevac police official Agim Demiri confirmed that several reports came in from people claiming that unidentified soldier asked them for identification on Sunday night near Dubrava.
Sources tell the daily that the unit responsible for these actions is made up of former members of the Kosovo Liberation Army.
There has been speculation that the reason for the activity of this group is to let local and international politicians know that they are ready to resort to military actions if the Kosovo status discussions veer of the direction that the former members of the KLA and the people of Kosovo wish for the talks to move in; towards independence.
JDAM on isle six.
Yeah. Serbia was supposed to take back admin of Kosovo long ago. If Russia comes in, I can only hope it is as allies of the West.
clinton Legacy bump!
No, it wasn't. Kosovo's post June 1999 path has always been towards self government, as laid out in UNSCR 1244.
Under Secretary Burns spoke on the issue today, in front of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, and anybody still hoping, much less arguing for the return of Serbian sovereignity over Kosovo just hasn't been paying attention.
You may want to review Russian efforts to influence the situation in 1999 - what started out as a Russian (we're not even sure if it was the Russian government's doing or renegade elements in the Kremlin) gambit to influence post-war Kosovo on their terms rather than NATO's saw the Russian troops from Bosnia who'd seized Pristina airport not welcoming their comrades from Russia off the planes, but begging for food and water from NATO troops after Moscow's ex-satellite nations refused overflight rights to the reinforcements.
Russia proved unenthusiastic about sticking its necks out for the Serbs back in 1999, and has less opportunity and incentive to do so today - the Balkans have passed from Russia's sphere of influence.
Sounds as if the KLA Islamofascists have been inspired by the events in France to try another round of their ethnic terror.
Peace will only return to Kosovo alongside the Serbian Army (this assumes that you do not consider the ethnic cleansing successfully completed in Kosovo since Clinton's war and the destruction of ancient Christian churches are monasteries to be "peace" unlike certain Muhammedan thugs who post around here).
Clinton should be brought up for war crimes.
Pity that the West won't lift a finger to end these acts at the hands of the Islamofascists! Perhaps when the thugs come for them, they'll get it.
Don't worry, pretty soon the intifada will spread, even here to America, and the West will be to busy to care about what those mean ole Serbs do to the nice, peaceloving, car burning, church torching, Western hating Islamics.
