Hello all, a precursor: I just woke up to all this news.
Now, I ask, why is everyone's outlook so negative here on FR? Let's compile a Good News Thread that goes over what we've actually won, because as I've seen so far, a couple of governor's races whose former office holders were both libs isn't a huge coup (or a "referendum on President Bush"), nor is few propositions in a liberal state (CA) where a semi-RINO at odds with President Bush is pushing them.
Great post!
Thank you ,Dan!
We are now less than 12 months away from a Senate Election. If you're luckly, you will be able to celebrate the loss of the Senate next year, because only some liberal Senators were replaced anyway.
If you think that prospect is something to look forward to, then you've got a lot to celebrate tonight. If not, you might want to rethink your positive news analysis.
The Republicans have only a few months to make it clear why they deserve to retain control of the Senate. IF they can't do better than two governors did tonight, we're not going to be happy campers next year.
Nope.
Outstanding! One of the most important victories was the one in Ohio -- those ballot issues scared me!
So Republicans didn't pick up two Governors seat -- not like we had Republicans in the seats and lost them to the RATs.
Besides Corzine is now out of the Senate. I think if I lived in NJ, I would be looking to leave. Don't know if I could take Corzine as the Governor. Talk about corruption, New Jersey hasn't seen anything yet -- just wait until Corzine takes over. I predict he is going to be so bad for NJ that Republicans just make take NJ in 2008! Optimist here.
Bloomberg won despite the Clintons being on the other side!
Not at all a bad night considering everything.
Oh yeah, one other thing that hasn't changed...there will always be doom and gloomers on FreeRepublic.
We've got all next year to plan and strategerize, and I agree with your general premise. I just don't feel that tonight's the night to do it, since the MSM will be doing that for us. Most of the 2005 election news is good news so far, and as PhiKapMom said, at least Corzine is out of the Senate. Unless he appoints a successor who is worse than him, which will be tough (are there any Kennedys left?), he won't be able to screw up anything but his own state until 2008 when he tries to make the jump!
Oh yeah, and there will always be people here on Free Republic who champion the status quo as a vitory.
Corzine is now the state Chief Executive in New Jersey, and will be able to nominate someone worse than himself to fill his seat in the U.S. Senate.
Hip hip hooray!
Isn't that the truth! Guess there are a lot of half empty types that are on here.
Yes. Let's use the term Rino and Neo-con more. Not enough of that kind of backbiting goes on around here....
He is going to have to go a long way to nominate anyone worse then he is -- he is slimey and gives me the creeps -- don't like 99% of the RATs in the Senate but for some reason Corzine and Schumer make my skin crawl.
Oh, and in my small (but very nice) suburban town, the GOP won everything. As usual.
Some of the folks that use RINO the most are not even Republican or are new on here in the last year. Does make one wonder!
Still waiting to find out who the numbskulls are that voted for Ms. Clinton to be President on the last poll on here.
From what I've heard, Corzine appoints a Senator and has a special election next year (which almost guarantees he'll be voted in, but I digress).
Thanks for the comments Dan. Have a good one.
Same here.
Thanks for the good news! Congratulations!
Think the current Governor will appoint depending on when the jerk resigns from the Senate but he has to resign before he can become Governor. I would hate to have him for my Governor -- he is just sleezy and creepy. Even the picture of him winning gave me the creeps -- odd person.
I think we should start a pool on how long it takes before he is thrown out of the Governor's office for breaking the law. Interns better watch out!
