Oh, there is an argument to be made we can start putting up our own candidates, and we are, but that's 25 or so years away from being a potent force in politics. In the majority of races we're stuck with the choice the GOP provides.

If the RINO's screw the GOP, and by so doing, us, it is the GOP's fault. They picked them. They don't enforce discipline. This is the result.

Oh please - How do you expect hard core GOP'ers to be elected in most Blue States? - The Republicans we have in the Northeast...are (surprise, surprise) RHINO' types - Because the base can't get hardcore GOP'ers elected in those States -

Just as GWB couldn't carry NJ, IL, WI, VT, MA, MD, DE, CA, OR, WA, etc, etc - How do you expect the GOP to get other solid GOP candidates elected in the Senate in those States when someone as popular as GWB (is with our base) couldn't get enough to carry those states!

Therefore we have to actually put up Republicans in those States that have a chance at winning (and in turn those republicans that do win from those states conference with the GOP in both Chambers so we have control of those chambers to a large extent).

That means living with reality - Where one has to make choices that are actually available to them - Not have pie in the sky "wishes".

Therefore in a number of States we will either go with a RHINO type candidate who can possibly win...or go with someone more to the right who has no shot.

We were speaking of the House, correct? Which means we are speaking of congressional districts, not overall states. In which Republicans have the edge even in "blue" states.

I resent the implication I'm a purist. My posting history indicates otherwise.

The REALITY is that conservatives aren't getting their fair "cut" of this compromise with the RINO's for a working Majority. We're getting screwed. GOP members are talking of tax hikes, no ANWR, GOP voting for a bill to protect terrorists, it's an uphill battle to get a GOOD judge on the Supreme Court, no fixes to social security....etc...we've gotten a few bones like limited tort reform.

For all the heavy lifting CONSERVATIVES do to elect Republicans of all ideological stripes, the sacrifice of time and money so far isn't worth it.

The REALITY is that if Reps don't shape up soon, look to what happened to 41 in '92 to occur to the GOP in '06. Do I want that to happen? NO. If I did I wouldn't be screaming for the GOP to shape up.

I will NOT deny the obvious truth, though, that conservatives feel shafted and a brewing trouble is on horizon for the GOP in '06 that they have brought on themselves.
