I watched it on C-SPAN. It was great seeing Boxer bitch-slapped.

Here's the transcript for those who can't hear the audio...although if you can, this transcript is certainly no substitute:

Sen. Stevens (R-Alaska): I shall not administer an oath today -

Sen. Cantwell (D-Washington): Mr. Chairman.

Stevens: - and we look forward to questions...Senator Cantwell?

Cantwell: Mr. Chairman, I did send you a letter signed by eight of my colleagues asking that the witnesses be placed under oath. This rare joint hearing -

Stevens: I did not yield for you to make a statement. We're ready to go. We have a statement process -

Cantwell: Mr. Chairman, I would like the committee to vote on whether we swear -

Stevens: There will be no vote. That's not in order at all. It's not part of the rules that any vote can be taken to administer an oath. It is the decision of the Chairman, and I have made that decision.

Cantwell: Mr. Chairman, I move that we swear in the witnesses.

Stevens: And I rule that out of order.

Sen. Boxer (D-California): I second the motion.

Stevens: Thank you very much. That's that last we're going to hear about that, because it's out of order.

Ted Stevens is someone great to listen to when he is on your side...one thing about it, he doesn't pull any punches whether you agree with him or not.

That's great! I almost forgive him for that embarassing hissy-fit he threw when his pork-barrel project (the "bridge to nowhere") was threatened.

Let's put the Senators under oath next time they're spouting their bilge. The perjury indictments will make the Libby charges look like jaywalking.

That's great stuff. Too bad he didn't paraphrase Gene Hackman as the Captain of the USS Alabama in Crimson Tide by saying, "Senator, I'm chairman of this committee, I've made a decision, NOW SHUT THE F*CK UP!"

It seems to me if we were going to go through this whole dog and pony show of having the big oil execs testify before the commerce committee, then maybe they should have been sworn in.... especially after the baseball players had to during musclegate.

That's great stuff. Too bad he didn't paraphrase Gene Hackman as the Captain of the USS Alabama in Crimson Tide by saying, "Senators, I've made my decision. I'm chairman of this committee, NOW SHUT THE F*CK UP!"

One of my alltime favorite movies...can't turn it off, when it's on cable.

My backup line, to both Cantwell and Boxer:

"Just so we understand each other...I don't have a problem with disagreements, or doubts. As I told you before, I'm not seeking the company of kiss-asses....but you got something to say to me, say it in private. And if privacy doesn't permit itself, then you bite your f**king tongue."

The fact that I live in Seattle, I'm glad to hear that bitch Cantwell got the smackdown. She needs it a lot. Every campaign she runs, its pure sleaze.
