"We should have waited them out," Clinton said.
Eighty Americans incinerated. A Republican President would have been impeached immediately.
This was Bill's way of putting all of the state militia's that were popular at the time on notice of how they would be dealt with if they physically opposed him. With the Branch Didivians, he was relatively sure he could handle the political fallout because they were small in numbers, and they were outside of the what seemed to be a normal way of life. He even violated the posse comitatus act by having his buddy Wesley Clark, the commander of Fort Hood, lend him some armored personnel carriers to use against US citizens. This act alone was enough to impeach him.
However, along with Hillary's failed health care scheme (which once again the infamous Ross Perot was lurking in the shadows), Bill's approval numbers continued to lag. Then the Oklahoma City bombing united the people of the US against a common foe, or so we thought. And Bill's numbers stayed high throughout his presidency.
I'm convinced that Clinton along with the BATF were complicit in the Murrah Building bombing, but have no proof, or way of proving it. I would be interested in seeing how many of the BATF employees that had offices in the Murrah Building are still alive. You would need to get rid of them, if they were complicit.
