when one is using the word heroes in a possessive fashion, it is "hero's"

Thanks for your comments (BOTH of them :-).

But I think you are wrong.

If you use "heroes" in a possessive fashion, it would be "heroes' ".
Meaning something possessed by all these heroes.

If you use "hero" in a possessive fashion, it would be "hero's ".
Meaning something possessed by this hero.

And the poster did not intend possessive, anyway.

Above their wreath-strewn graves we kneel
They kept the faith and fought the fight
Through flying lead and crimson steel
They plunged for Freedom and the Right

May we, their grateful children, learn
Their strength, who lie beneath this sod
Who went through fire and death to earn
At last, the accolade of God

(L. S. Phillips)

Ah, you are quite correct, Izzy D. Seems I should have used "braincheck", not "spellcheck". LOL

Note to Chena: Engage brain before engaging keyboard. ;)

ROFL! I was wondering why you thanked me for "BOTH" of my comments. OMG, I didn't realize my comment was posted twice. Nothing like being wrong, and then being wrong twice on the same thing. Getting old ain't for wimps. ;)

Beautiful post, carlo3b. God bless "Uncle Joe" and every Veteran, past and present, who has served our great country. I'm from a long line of military service, including our son who served in the U.S. Army and in Iraq.

THANK YOU VETERANS AND ALL OF OUR MILITARY MEN AND WOMEN SERVING TODAY BOTH HERE AT HOME AND ABROAD! God bless you all!

Thanks to all veterans!

I posted this earlier on a Veterans' Day thread, but, after viewing Chena's video post, I'm posting here again.

A friend sent this fantastic video that honors our troops.

http://www.clermontyellow.accountsupport.com/flash/UntilThen.swf

Music "Homeward Bound" sung by the Brigham Young Choirs.
Here are the words:
In the quiet misty morning when the moon has gone to bed,
When the sparrows stop their singing and the sky is clear and red.
When the summer’s ceased its gleaming,
When the corn is past its prime,
When adventure’s lost its meaning,
I’ll be homeward bound in time.

Bind me not to the pasture, chain me not to the plow.
Set me free to find my calling and I’ll return to you somehow.

If you find it’s me you're missing, if you’re hoping I’ll return.
To your thoughts I’ll soon be list’ning, and in the road I’ll stop and turn.
Then the wind will set me racing as my journey nears its end.
And the path I’ll be retracing when I’m homeward bound again.

Bind me not to the pasture, chain me not to the plow.
Set me free to find my calling and I’ll return to you somehow.

In the quiet misty morning when the moon has gone to bed,
When the sparrows stop their singing,
I’ll be homeward bound again.
