These "Republicans" did more than quash the ANWR project. They stabbed their President and their party leadership (House and Senate) in the back on an issue that directly involves (and will only more deeply in the future involve) national security during a time of war. And at a time when the President and their own party were in trouble politically. They are truly spineless, dangerous fools.

VOTE in the PRIMARIES ....or we get the weaklings, goofballs and fake conservatives the "Party" gives us.
Would appreciate an explanation in the difference in a Republican and a RINO other than the place is already occupied on the Democrat side so a RINO desiring to run must declare as a Republican. To my mind, the Republicans, with the exception of the conservatives among them are just office seekers and office holders who would not want to be called Democrats because it's beneath them and their friends would look down on them, or it's too hard to get elected where Democrat is a dirty word, or they are Democrats in disguise (RINOs), but there are no real serious differences in policy with the Democrats. Republicans minus conservatives = Bob Michael (don't make waves, go along to get along, etc.)
"IF" I heard Rush correctly today, some group funded for moderates by none other than Soros!!!!

Would not be any type of surprise. The radical fringe left will stop at nothing.
We gave them a majority because we expected them to actually govern and to actually enact the agenda they campaigned on. Until they start doing a better job at that (and of course, when they fix their perennial problem of public relations), then the numbers will quickly rebound.
The Republicans could have taken this opportunity to highlight the uselessness of blaming oil companies for this shortage. They could have explained that one reason for higher oil company profits is that, because of stifling and stupid regulations as well as the constant threat of lawsuits, they simply can't invest it in expanding both their oil discovery and oil refining businesses.
Congress could have used the current crisis to streamline regulations, encourage the building of refineries, simplify the number of different gasoline grades required - in other words, practical solutions to a real problem. You can't have a refining industry that is running at 98% of it's peak capacity and not expect supply disruptions when you're forced to shut down 10-25% of your capacity. Holding hearings where you act like socialists for the benefit of soundbites does nothing to solve the problem.
Inglis? Gilchrest? Wha...?
Did anyone watch the Left Wing debate between Alda and Smits? Alda did a 100x better job explaining the reasons to drill in ANWR than I've heard from the White House or Congress. We've got operations set up in neighborhoods and off the California and Texas coasts. Why on earth can't we set up operations in a remote area that NONE OF US WILL EVER SEE?
This is just flat-out stupid, and the Republicans' inability to articulate the stupidity of opposing ANWR drilling is beyond frustrating.
I got this response:
Jeb Bradley is not from NY. He is also from NH (1st District...Bass is from the 2nd). 13 posted on 11/16/2005 4:24:59 AM PST by Past Your Eyes (Hey, getta your tootsi frootsi ice-a cream.)
Most of them are from the Northeast, and none of them live even relatively close to Alaska.
Talk about elitism.
These people know what's better for Alaskan's than Alaskan's.
They are on the Payroll of George Soros.
bttt
I'm guessing whoever puts up the most ca$h!
Both happened over time, under the guise of 'diversity' and 'moderation'!
