That is a twisted headline. A reporter apparently asked him a question. He apparently answered “Certainly, mistakes were made,” Santorum said of the war’s conduct. “But that’s a criticism you can make of every conflict.”.

He then went on to questioned how the public would have felt about World War II if the media had reported only the body count and not news of cities liberated by the Allies.

Which gives us an LSM headline: Santorum Critical Of Bush, War In Iraq.

Do you really think that fits what he said?

Yesterday, the print edition of the Inquirer had a story on the speech. It quoted Rick as saying that Americans have soured on the war in Iraq because they do not understand it as part of a long and necessary fight against "Islamic fascist forces bent on destroying democracy-and the White House is partially to blame for not articulating the stakes" ..."It's as if FDR were to define World War II as 'war on blitzkrieg' a military tactic". They also reported him saying that the conduct of the war was "less than optimal" and that "maybe some blame could be laid" at the White House". I never buy the Inquirer; the only reason I did yesterday was to see this story.
