I used to be a big Santorum fan, but his backing off the President, rather than a strong offense, IMHO, is a big mistake. The same goes for all the Republicans.

Be cautious. I'm not sure Santorum is distancing himself from the president. The PRESS says so but they've been wrong before.

I would strongly urge you to go read what he said. Santorum was the victim of a Media Drive By. He made some perfectly responsible factual statements that were deliberately misquoted to give a completely false impression of what he was saying. I REALLY urge Conservatives to get a LOT more cynical about the Dinosaur Media. The article on Santorum was another example of a Reporter writing the story they WANTED to report, not what actually happened.

The media is taking Santorum's comments out of context ... he wasn't backing off ... he was saying the WH needs to be stronger in explaining the long term actions of the WOT and what will happen if we lose Iraq

My complaint is why can't he and others explain it also .. why can't he and other confront the likes of Kennedy and Reid on the Senate Floor when they make such outrageous comments ??

You are correct .. The President isn't the only Republican ... Others can step up to the plate also
